For roughly forty years, a concert titled “A Capitol Fourth” has been offered on the Capitol Grounds featuring the National Symphony Orchestra and assorted artists to celebrate Independence Day on July 4. This year, the concert will feature host Vanessa Williams, the first black woman to be named Miss America and later a Broadway and recording star, singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which is popularly known as the “Black National Anthem.” A Capitol Fourth was first televised in 1981 PBS station WETA,and has been televised by public broadcasting every year since. LSU center fielder Dylan Crews and first baseman Tre' Morgan were named to the final 26-man U.S. Collegiate national team roster, USA Baseball announced on Tuesday. The team will compete at Honkbalweek Haarlem from Friday through July 15 at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem, Netherlands. The final squad was named after completing a five-game intrasquad series in North Carolina. LSU is one of five schools with two players on the team along with Florida State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Team USA will travel to the Netherlands on Wednesday and begin Honkbalweek Haarlem on Saturday. The U.S. open against Japan at 7 a.m.  Saturday and follow with games against Italy, Cuba, the Netherlands and Curacao to complete group play. A quarter of a century worth of academic journals and magazines adorn Screen and Media Studies lecturer Geoff Lealand's office. But now he'll have to start packing up his mementoes - he's one of the staff members affected by Waikato University's proposed cuts. Lealand, who works in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), said the department's cuts were expected to be around 20 per cent, with 21 jobs set to go. A LOTTO winner's kids charity is being investigated by watchdogs over allegations of "financial misconduct", say reports. Barry Chuwen, 52, won £4.5million in 1997 and invested it in commercial premises, including some of Glasgow 's most exclusive addresses. The Lottery winner also set up The Teddy Bear Foundation with wife Jenny in 2004, after they tragically had a stillborn baby at six months. The charity claimed to have spent a total of nearly £500,000 to take children with special needs to Disneyland Paris - as well as providing them riding lessons, massage sessions and sensory gardens. According to the Daily Record , OSCR are investigating payments made by the charity to a company connected to one of its trustees last year. They have now taken action to make sure that any property owned by the charity can't be sold.
