Victims of the Christchurch’s mosque shooter have arrived from across the world to face him in court on Monday and detail the impact his murderous rampage has had on their lives. Stuff speaks to three of them. Hamimah Hamimah Tuyan travelled more than 8500 kilometres in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic to see her husband’s killer sentenced. Zekeriya Tuyan was the 51st victim to die from the injuries he sustained in the March 15 Christchurch terror attack. His wife sees it as her responsibility to witness justice meted on the man responsible. “This is the least I can do for my husband and my children,” she says. Cambodia wants its stolen treasures back—and will fight in court for them | Opinion
Cambodia has been fighting for years to protect its cultural heritage and prevent priceless antiquities from being looted and spirited out of the country. This week some of that effort bore fruit when the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security officially returned to Cambodia 30 important artifacts they had seized in an asset forfeiture case. The artifacts, some of which are more than 1,000 years old, have a market value of some $35 million, but the monetary value pales in comparison to their cultural and historical value to the Cambodian people. These 30 artifacts were surrendered by the Denver Art Museum and one private collector, James H. Clark, the founder of Netscape. US blames WannaCry ransomware attack on North Korea
The US is publicly blaming North Korea for the WannaCry cyberattack that crippled the NHS and other networks around the world. Tom Bossert, President Donald Trump's homeland security adviser, said the country was "directly responsible" for the ransomware attack which was "widespread and cost billions". It comes as Mr Trump unveiled a new US national security strategy to strengthen the country's cyber defence capabilities. Leesburg, Virginia — At the makeshift clothing store, outfitted with a mix of traditional Afghan garments and American clothes including jackets, socks and underwear, a young Afghan boy flashed a bright smile as he selected his first pair of outdoor boots. Inside the recreation room, children played table hockey, took turns hurling a soccer ball in the air and contested boisterous foosball matches while Afghan music played in the background. A young Afghan boy ran around with a soccer ball, showcasing his skills to a news cameraman who followed him across the room. At the large dining area, which can seat 800 individuals, Afghan adults and families with minor children enjoyed Afghan cuisine staples, such as a kidney bean stew known as lubya, and Naan, as well as halal versions of American classics, including turkey hot dogs with beef chili.
