Leesburg, Virginia — At the makeshift clothing store, outfitted with a mix of traditional Afghan garments and American clothes including jackets, socks and underwear, a young Afghan boy flashed a bright smile as he selected his first pair of outdoor boots. Inside the recreation room, children played table hockey, took turns hurling a soccer ball in the air and contested boisterous foosball matches while Afghan music played in the background. A young Afghan boy ran around with a soccer ball, showcasing his skills to a news cameraman who followed him across the room. At the large dining area, which can seat 800 individuals, Afghan adults and families with minor children enjoyed Afghan cuisine staples, such as a kidney bean stew known as lubya, and Naan, as well as halal versions of American classics, including turkey hot dogs with beef chili. In an arts-and-craft room adorned by dozens of paintings and drawings, children sat side-by-side drawing. Eric Trump: My dad isn’t playing games on national security
Eric Trump has stressed that his father is "not playing" when it comes to national security and "protecting the free world against lunacy." Speaking in an interview with Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures , the president's second eldest son said: "I think having three or four aircraft carriers parked right off the peninsula really shows the might of a nation." His comments appeared to be a nod to the deployment of three Navy aircraft carrier groups to the Korean Peninsula last month, in a move that Defense Department chief spokeswoman Dana White told The Hill at the time was "not directed towards any particular threat," rather "a demonstration that we can do something that no one else in the world can." However, Trump appeared to have a different opinion of the deployment of the carriers, telling Fox News host Maria Bartiromo that neither his father nor Secretary of Defense James Mattis were the kind of people who played games with national security. "It also makes it very … [Read more...] about Eric Trump: My dad isn’t playing games on national security
Sexual violence against women and girls should be treated as a national emergency until it’s been defeated, writes RISHI SUNAK
How serious are we as a society about protecting women and girls? There is a strong cultural consensus, backed up by legislation, that deplores and forbids any form of sexual violence. And yet women and girls continue to be subject to attack. Every case is an outrage that seriously undermines the sense of security to which every female is entitled. As a man, I wouldn't think twice about walking to the shops at night yet my wife and daughters would hesitate – because of the threat posed by other men. That's something I am determined to change. As Chancellor, I made it one of my priorities to boost support for victims. By 2024/25, we will invest £192million a year into victim support, including 1,000 independent sexual violence advisers and 24/7 support for rape victims. I also funded Operation Soteria, a ground-breaking new approach to policing, making police investigations less intrusive for victims and putting them at the forefront so that more perpetrators face justice. … [Read more...] about Sexual violence against women and girls should be treated as a national emergency until it’s been defeated, writes RISHI SUNAK
Trump Responds To Garland Press Conference | The Daily Wire
Former President Donald Trump responded to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland’s press conference Thursday afternoon by saying that the FBI raid on his property in Florida was not needed because his legal team had been cooperating with the Justice Department. “Just now the Justice Department has filed a motion in the southern district of Florida to unseal a search warrant and property receipt relating to a court-approved search that the F.B.I. conducted earlier this week” at Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago, Garland said. “The department filed the motion to make public the warrant and receipt in light of the former president’s public confirmation of the search, the surrounding circumstances, and the substantial public interest in this matter.” “I personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant in this matter,” Garland later added. “Second, the department does not take such a decision lightly. Where possible, it is standard practice to seek less intrusive means as an … [Read more...] about Trump Responds To Garland Press Conference | The Daily Wire

Police and New Zealand Transport Agency are launching investigations into the driver licensing system after allegations of potential fraud. One News reported on Wednesday evening that a booking officer in Auckland was selling licences for $500, allowing customers to by-pass the standard wait time.
