Kyle Sinckler earns his stripes on redemption day for him and England in Six Nations

· February 15, 2021 ·

As he pulled on an England shirt again Kyle Sinckler stopped to think who he was about to represent. A nation in lockdown, looking for a reason to be cheerful on yet another blank weekend. Kids, like his twin brother and sister, climbing the walls at home, unable to go to school or take part in any sort of sport. He then went out and delivered a man of the match display which led Eddie Jones to liken him to a tiger. “Eddie made the point in our team talk beforehand that 8.7 million people watched our game against Scotland,” said the Bristol prop. “You can only imagine how many of them are kids that look up to us as players. “My little brother and sister play football, rugby, tennis and at the moment they are just stuck at home. We wanted to put smiles on faces.” Sinckler’s performance on his first game back from suspension was emblematic of this England victory. It was about taking responsibility for past failings and showing lessons had been learned. In England’s case … [Read more...] about Kyle Sinckler earns his stripes on redemption day for him and England in Six Nations

I spend $200k a year on beauty – I never wash my own hair, jet my facialist in from UK & spend 4 hours a day on make-up

· March 2, 2021 ·

WHEN Saffron Drewitt-Barlow feels her skin is lacking a bit of glow, she knows exactly what to do – get online and book a first-class plane ticket for her favourite beauty therapist. Money is no object for the 21-year-old, which is why she’s able to splash $10,000 a time arranging for her number one facialist to fly from her home in Brighton to Saffron’s family mansion in Florida. Far from being a rarity, it’s something Saffron does every month or so (Covid permitting)… and it’s just the beginning of her mammoth beauty spend. The daughter of Britain’s first gay dads, ex-couple and multi-millionaires Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow, also forks out over $12,000 a year to keep her hair extensions looking good, has a make-up artist on her books for whenever she needs him and gets her lashes and nails down every couple of weeks. It’s all part of Saffron’s Absolutely Fabulous life , which she’s detailing in her new Fabulous column. She’s already touched on the unusual family … [Read more...] about I spend $200k a year on beauty – I never wash my own hair, jet my facialist in from UK & spend 4 hours a day on make-up

Myanmar coup: Death toll of pro-democracy protesters rises to 18 as calls for peace from southeast Asian nations fail

· March 3, 2021 ·

Another 18 people have been reportedly killed on the streets of Myanmar as pro-democracy protests continue against the military coup, a human rights group says. Security forces have used tear gas, stun guns and grenades and opened fire with little warning in several towns and cities to break up protests, witnesses said. Two people were killed during clashes at a protest in the country's second-biggest city Mandalay, a witness and media reports said, while one person was reported killed when police opened fire in the main city of Yangon. The Monywa Gazette reported five people were killed in the central town when police opened fire. Student activist Moe Myint Hein, 25, said one person was shot and killed in the town of Myingyan, adding: "They opened fire on us with live bullets. One was killed, he's young, a teenage boy, shot in the head," Advertisement A spokesman for the ruling military council did not answer telephone calls seeking comment, Reuters … [Read more...] about Myanmar coup: Death toll of pro-democracy protesters rises to 18 as calls for peace from southeast Asian nations fail

Robbie Savage’s mum says ‘£180m lottery win is too much for just one person’

· February 26, 2021 ·

Imagining what we’d do if we won the lottery is a guaranteed cheerer upper. Especially now, when the lottery  jackpots seem bigger than ever. My mum played the same numbers every week and I still remember them. If she won a tenner she was as delighted as if she’d won a million. But I agreed when Mum said the jackpots were too big and the lottery should be more widely shared to make more families happy. If one person won last night’s £180million Euro lottery, surely that’s too much for any one person? I stopped playing the lottery after I lost Mum. But I still sometimes imagine what I’d do if I won. I’d look after any friends and family who were a bit short then donate to charities. And I’d build a special Alzheimer’s home and personally interview all the staff to make sure they had genuine kindness. I have no interest in swapping my house for a big mansion because my memories of my late husband Colin are here. Posh designer clothes don’t give me a thrill because I’d only get … [Read more...] about Robbie Savage’s mum says ‘£180m lottery win is too much for just one person’
