Eddie Jones will not make a formal complaint to World Rugby over the two tries wrongly awarded to Wales. England crashed to a 40-24 Six Nations defeat in Cardiff after being left furious by what World Cup winner Martin Johnson branded “appalling” refereeing. French official Pascal Gauzere first allowed Josh Adams to score from a quickly taken penalty when he had just told Owen Farrell to speak to his team. He then ignored a blatant knock-on by Louis Rees-Zammit to award a second try to Liam Williams - leading former Wales captain Sam Warburton to admit: “I’d be fuming if I was Owen Farrell”. But Jones refused to criticise the official publicly after the game. And yesterday the RFU confirmed that England would not be taking the matter further. The Australian simply said: “We were in a race and they got a bit of a headstart and we had to catch up. “Sometimes you play rugby and don't get the result. Sometimes you play terrible rugby and do.” Defeat ended England’s title … [Read more...] about England silent over blunder ref but call out trolls after social media abuse

Opinion: On trans rights, journalists must stand with the facts
Can a trans woman, simply by being a transgender woman, be a threat to cisgender women [people whose gender identity matches their sex assigned at birth — Editor's note]? In more and more countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Spain, a sector within the feminist movement seems to think so. Just like far-right religious conservatives , self-proclaimed "radical feminists" — also known as trans-exclusionary radical feminists, or TERFs — claim gender does not exist. For them, only "biological sex" does. In their opinion, allowing trans women into single-sex spaces would endanger cisgender women. Many of them also believe that legally recognizing gender self-determination, a legal gender change without a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria, would allow rapists to escape punishment. NHS workers fall in love while working in ICU and ‘head to toe’ in PPE
A pair of NHS workers who couldn't see one another due to their PPE said the eye contact between them is what made them fall in love. Nurse Ollie Foster, 43, and orthopaedic specialist Helen Birch, 33, "communicated through their eyes" behind visors when they first met on the ICU of the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. They started working together when Helen was transferred to Ollie's same ward when she volunteered to help in critical care when the pandemic broke out. The couple "hit it off" immediately, Ollie said, as he described how he had been single for two years and had given up on finding love due to how he'd been hurt in the past. "We were total strangers and had never come across one another before, but we connected immediately and could communicate so easily, even non verbally as it was like we were communicating through our eyes, behind our visors. "We worked so well together as a team, we bounced off each other straight away. "We were dressed head to toe in PPE so … [Read more...] about NHS workers fall in love while working in ICU and ‘head to toe’ in PPE
