ON day one of our whirlwind four-night visit to Nashville, each member of our group half-jokingly decides to move here and become a songwriter. It’s that kind of place. The whole trip sees us jotting down snatches of conversation that would make a perfect song lyric and set us on the road to country music superstardom. Welcome to Music City, y’all. But it’s not all about music. Not quite. There is also food. No visit to Tennessee’s capital would be complete without trying some authentic hot chicken, so first we fuel up with a delicious lunch at Hattie B’s. Heat levels range from Southern (no heat) to the wonderfully named Shut The Cluck Up — only for the foolhardy. Next up was a special stop at the renowned Bluebird Cafe. It has iconic status among country fans and artists, so I was surprised to find the Bluebird on a nondescript strip mall, sandwiched between two hair salons. But once inside, you can feel the magic of this 90-seat venue. … [Read more...] about Nashville – come to the home of country music, fun, fine food and whiskey

JACOB Rees-Mogg has cultivated a unique image amongst MPs but the eccentric backbencher has been accused of copying the Beano character Walter the Softy. The children’s comic says they have sent the Tory a legal letter for him to cease and desist from “impersonating” Dennis the Menace’s antagonist, saying he was around first. They pointed to a number of supposed similarities between the two, including wearing round glasses, liking classical music and “snootiness”. The Beano's Mike Stirling accused the prominent Eurosceptic of "masquerading as Walter Brown", after the similarities were spotted by young readers of the comic and its beano.com website. But the 24 year old has thought better of it - wanting to avoid writing a "cheesy song" about his one-year-old son. "He wasn't born during the production of the album, so there's not a song about Bear on it," he told Front Row Japan. "It's difficult because Bear is the best thing I've ever experienced so it couldn't be a boring song, it wouldn't be something that was done easily." Cheryl has reportedly written a "very personal" and "meaningful" song about Bear for her own upcoming record. "I can’t tell you the name of her track but it has been influenced by her son Bear," producer Naughty Boy previously revealed. "It has got more edge than anything she has done before. I feel it is going to be very special and meaningful." Although Liam has ruled out writing a song … [Read more...] about Liam Payne and Cheryl have clashing opinions on including Bear in their music
