Boris Becker has been commentating on the action at Wimbledon for fellow cons inside prison. The German, 54, has been keeping staff and inmates entertained inside Category C HMP Huntercombe by sharing his knowledge. The three-time Wimbledon champion and former World No1 has also been analysing players’ styles and predicting who will win and lose matches before they start. He has predicted that Novak Djokovic will win the championship and his likely opponent will be Rafael Nadal , providing he is not forced to retire through injury. Becker, who was sentenced to two and a half years for concealing £2.5m of assets to avoid paying money he owed after his bankruptcy, also correctly predicted Emma Raducanu would not make it past round two. Becker also told inmates that former British No1 Andy Murray would struggle to finish the first week of the event because he is still finding his best form. Daryl Gurney slammed the conduct of darts fans in Germany following his European Matchplay defeat to home favourite Gabriel Clemens. The Northern Irishman went down 6-5 to Clemens after missing a match dart to win the second round clash in Trier. The game was played out amid a partisan atmosphere, with Gurney being regularly booed and whistled as he went to throw. Gurney was clearly disgruntled with his treatment and, as he embraced Clemens at the end of the match, appeared to gesture towards the audience. Gurney, nicknamed, SuperChin then took to Twitter, initially posting: “Lots of boos and whistles again … not the best [German flag emoji]. Democrats go on the offensive over abortion as Republicans walk tightrope
For most of the past year Democrats have had to contend with voter dissatisfaction about rising grocery and gas prices, as well as the fact that the president’s party typically loses seats in the first midterm election. But a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist national poll found that if the election were held today, 48 per cent of registered voters said that they would vote for Democrats compared to 41 per cent who would vote for Republicans . There are, of course, reasons this does not automatically signal that Democrats will hold the House of Representatives. For one, that 48 per cent just looks at registered voters, not likely voters. Similarly, what voters think nationally doesn’t take into account how specific congressional districts or states will vote. That means that what candidates choose to emphasise and how they choose to talk about abortion will matter.
