Dad who murdered baby daughter by shaking her to death jailed for at least 14 years

· February 26, 2021 ·

A dad who murdered his five-month-old baby daughter by shaking her to death after a 'difficult afternoon looking after her' has been jailed for at least 14 years. Philip Peace, 43, of Dudley, was convicted of the killing after a five-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court. During proceedings, jurors heard how the defendant's daughter Summer Peace had suffered serious injuries, including fractured ribs, retinal bleeding and a catastrophic brain injury, while in his care. Peace had been alone looking after his baby on September 8, 2017, when he called 999, telling the operator she had become unresponsive. Paramedics arrived at the address in Dudley where they began efforts to resuscitate the youngster. Summer was taken to hospital but life support was withdrawn the next day, as it became clear nothing could be done to save her. A judge told Peace what he had done 'will cast a long shadow above you and your family for the rest of your life,' Birmingham Live reports. … [Read more...] about Dad who murdered baby daughter by shaking her to death jailed for at least 14 years

Man murdered wife after becoming ‘fixated’ on money believing she ‘had everything’

· February 22, 2021 ·

A man murdered his wife just days after getting her to sign papers that would make him rich if she died. Raymond Hoadley has been jailed for life for murdering his wife Jackie Hoadley after becoming "fixated" on money. "Devoted and caring" disability campaigner Jackie was found dead in July last year. The 58-year-old was praised in tributes as an "institution" who "gave so much to so many people". Her estranged husband, Hoadley, 62, broke into her home in Eastbourne, East Sussex, at night and killed her. He appeared for sentencing at Lewes Crown Court on Monday after being convicted of murder at a trial last month. Prosecutor Caroline Carberry QC told the court that Hoadley had "had murder on his mind for some time" and was motivated in part by financial gain. "The defendant was fixated on money, both historically and in the weeks and days leading up to the killing," she said. "He expressed to a number of people the view that Jackie had everything and he had nothing." … [Read more...] about Man murdered wife after becoming ‘fixated’ on money believing she ‘had everything’

Wife of murdered airline exec ‘played grieving widow while having affair with killer’

· February 26, 2021 ·

An airlines executive's wife is accused of 'playing the grieving widow' on TV despite having "a full-blown emotional affair” with the man accused of killing him. Jennifer Lynne Faith has been charged with obstruction of justice following the death of her husband James “Jamie” Faith in Dallas, Texas. The 48-year-old's husband James, an IT director for American Airlines, was gunned down while the couple were out on a morning walk with their dog. Prosecutors say that she communicated with the alleged gunman, her high school sweetheart, and pushed him to get rid of evidence — all the while publicly pleading for information about the case. Describing the fatal attack, Mrs Faith told NBCDFW back in December: "I heard running behind me, and I turned around and all of a sudden somebody just started shooting at him. “My hope is that someday perhaps the person will realise the gravity of what they’ve done. “He was just the backbone of our family. It was just devastating.” … [Read more...] about Wife of murdered airline exec ‘played grieving widow while having affair with killer’

US intelligence blames Saudi prince for Khashoggi murder

· January 26, 2021 ·

A US intelligence report found Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman approved the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The report released Friday comes the day after US President Joe Biden's first call with Saudi King Salman. "The Crown Prince viewed Khashoggi as a threat to the Kingdom and broadly supported using violent measures if necessary to silence him," the report said. The document cites Salman's power over Saudi intelligence and security forces since 2017. Washington Post journalist Khashoggi — a critic of the prince's apparent authoritarian consolidation of power — was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October, 2018. Saudi Arabia sentenced five people to 20 years each in prison over the murder. The release of the report could prove a test for normally close relations between Washington and Riyadh. What did the report reveal? The intelligence document concluded that a Saudi delegation arrived in Istanbul in October 2018 , that … [Read more...] about US intelligence blames Saudi prince for Khashoggi murder

Royal Marine dropout ‘roamed countryside looking for victims’ before ‘killing pensioner’

· February 23, 2021 ·

A Royal Marines dropout armed himself with combat knives and roamed the countryside hunting for people to kill before stabbing a walker to death, a court heard. Moses Christensen, 22, is accused of murdering 70-year-old Richard Hall in a random savage attack on Brown Clee Hill, in South Shropshire on August 13 last year. He repeatedly plunged a serrated double-bladed knife into the face, neck and chest of Mr Hall "just for the sake of it" after their paths crossed at the popular beauty spot, a court heard. Christensen told police how he was overcome with a "strong desire" to kill the pensioner after they greeted each other with a smile as they met at the foggy summit, his trial has been told. He also described to officers how he carried out the "very savage, animalistic and brutal" killing and even "stabbed him one last time to make sure he was dead", Stafford Crown Court  heard. Christensen, of Oldswinford, Stourbridge, West Mids., admits carrying out the stabbing but denies … [Read more...] about Royal Marine dropout ‘roamed countryside looking for victims’ before ‘killing pensioner’
