That heated competition ended with the announcement Tuesday of two winners for the $5 billion development prize. Each location will get 25,000 jobs with six-figure salaries. Arlington promised $550 million in subsidies for its, while New York will shell out three times that amount. A Manhattan lawyer has insisted he is “not racist” after a video of his tirade against Spanish-speaking restaurant staff prompted hundreds to protest outside his home with a Mariachi band. Aaron Schlossberg has apologised on social media and said “seeing myself online opened my eyes” after a video surfaced of him haranguing workers at the Fresh Kitchen deli, on Madison Avenue, last week. In the video, the 42-year-old is seen threatening to call immigration authorities on workers after he heard a customer speaking Spanish with a Hispanic employee. Mr Schlossberg was heard shouting at the deli’s manager: "I pay for their welfare, I pay for their ability to be here. The least they can do is speak English." David Bowie has taken over a subway station in his adopted home of New York, with images of the rock legend plastered throughout and commemorative fare cards issued in his honor. Concert photos figure on the walls and his giant black-and-white likeness appears at the track entrance of the Broadway-Lafayette station, a short walk from where the London-born rocker lived his final years. The art installation is sponsored by streaming company Spotify and will be in place until May 13 as a tie-in to the exhibition "David Bowie is" at the Brooklyn Museum. The exhibition, which opened at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, has traveled across a dozen cities with New York scheduled to be its final stop. Irish Mixed Martial Arts superstar Conor McGregor was taken to court in New York in handcuffs on Friday, charged with assault and criminal mischief over an extraordinary attack on a bus carrying rival fighters that injured two athletes. The 29-year-old was caught on video Thursday hurling a dolly through a side window of the bus as rival fighters attended a media event at the Barclays Center. The bus was moving slowly through the Brooklyn stadium parking lot at the time. The Ultimate Fighting Championship said two athletes were wounded, forcing them to be pulled from the upcoming UFC 223 card. McGregor, who reportedly surrendered to Brooklyn police late Thursday, was escorted out of the police station in handcuffs, dressed in jeans, white sneakers and a tight-fitting blue top, before being driven off in the back of a sedan for court.
