Critics have blasted fans at the Super Bowl for failing to wear masks properly and disregarding social distancing rules amid fears the game could turn into a Covid super-spreader event. The hashtag 'SuperSpreaderBowl' began trending on Twitter on Sunday night as armchair viewers were distracted from the on-field action by the antics of the crowd. 'The real winner of the Super Bowl is Covid', one tweeted as images of fans with masks pulled down around their necks and standing close together were aired. A bevy of precautions were put in place to have fans attend the game in person safely, including limiting capacity to 30 per cent and requiring masks except when eating or drinking.
