Pugs can no longer be considered a “typical dog” because extreme breeding has given them a long list of severe health issues . The desire for extreme, baby-like dogs with bulging eyes , folds of skin and flat faces has led to long-lasting and life-shortening health problems , which mean the animal is subjected to a “lifetime of suffering”. Dr Dan O’Neill, senior lecturer in companion animal epidemiology at the Royal Veterinary College, told The Telegraph that pugs lacked the “basic functions” expected of a canine. “We have dogs that are typical, like Labradors, where they have a long nose and a tail and are not that dissimilar to a wild dog,’’ he said. “Obviously, they have a different temperament but physically they just look like a wolf or a coyote or a dingo or a fox. “We’ve drafted a list of core body functions that any dog should expect to be able to do when it’s born and when it’s alive and these are very basic. “For example, they should be able to blink. Midwifery students being taught how to help men give birth
Midwifery students are being taught how to help men give birth in a textbook that experts have warned is rife with anatomical fiction. Edinburgh Napier University told training midwives that they may be caring for a “birthing person” who has male genitalia and a prostate gland, in a bid to support transgender people . A module guide on how to provide safe care in childbirth told students: “It is important to note that while most times the birthing person will have female genitalia, you may be caring for a pregnant or birthing person who is transitioning from male to female and may still have external male genitalia. “You need to be familiar with the catheterisation procedure for both female and male anatomy. For this reason, where appropriate, this book refers to the birthing person.” The guide, obtained by The Telegraph, explained the “male anatomy catheterisation” procedure during birth, commonly used during caesarean section to drain excess fluids, along with diagrams on … [Read more...] about Midwifery students being taught how to help men give birth
BepiColombo: British spacecraft to blast off to Mercury and attempt to solve solar system’s mysteries
A British-built spacecraft is about to blast off to Mercury . The BepiColombo ship will fly five billion miles to the planet that is closest to our sun. The scientists behind it hope that it can help solve some of the mysteries that hang over the distant world. It might, for instance, contain water ice, hidden in shadows on its otherwise blazing hot surface, scientists speculate – a discovery that could help shed light on the possibility of alien life in our own solar system. It will also look to explain why the planet has such as huge iron core at its centre, and unlock the history of the vast volcanic vents that shook its surface for billions of years. Nasa's most stunning pictures of space Show all 30 BepiColombo is due to blast off from the European spaceport at Kourou, French Guiana, at 2.45am UK time on Saturday October 20. The four-tonne craft will be carried into space by a heavy lift Ariane 5, the European Space … [Read more...] about BepiColombo: British spacecraft to blast off to Mercury and attempt to solve solar system’s mysteries

Borscht Belt comic Jackie Mason is dead at 93 after unparalleled standup career took him from the Catskills to Broadway
Jackie Mason, whose style of comedy was unmistakably and uniquely his own, has died at the age of 93. The borscht belt comedian passed away Saturday at a Manhattan, New York City hospital, as confirmed by his longtime friend, lawyer Raoul Felder, to the New York Times . In the tradition of Don Rickles and Rodney Dangerfield, Mason's biting and acerbic brand of comedy was also undeniably Jewish, helping him to establish himself as a cultural touchstone for those that would follow, including Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld. RIP: Jackie Mason, whose style of comedy was unmistakably and uniquely his own, has died at the age of 93; seen here in 2005 During a 1998 interview with The New York Times, Mason described his comedic style by saying: 'My humor — it's a man in a conversation, pointing things out to you,' 'He's not better than you, he's just another guy,' he added. Sarah Palin gets Covid AGAIN and delays defamation trial after saying she’ll get vaccine ‘over my dead body’
SARAH Palin has got Covid again, after saying that she'd get the vaccine "over her dead body." The former Alaska governor was previously diagnosed with Covid in March 2021. It means that the politician's legal battle with The New York Times was delayed. The defamation lawsuit against the Times, brought by Palin in 2017, was set to go to trial on Monday in federal court in Manhattan . Her case survived an initial dismissal that was reversed on appeal in 2019, setting the stage for a rare instance that a major news organization will have to defend itself before a jury in a libel case involving a major public figure. Palin, 57, claims the Times damaged her reputation with an opinion piece penned by its editorial board that falsely asserted her political rhetoric helped incite the 2011 shooting of then-Arizona US Rep. Gabby Giffords. The newspaper has conceded the initial wording of the editorial was flawed, but not in an intentional or reckless way that made it … [Read more...] about Sarah Palin gets Covid AGAIN and delays defamation trial after saying she’ll get vaccine ‘over my dead body’
