UK drivers could face major changes to taxes, duties and charges within a month. Increased charges could hit millions of Britain's motorists in 2021. Proposals are being tabled for a range of new schemes in an attempt to balance the coronavirus -hit economy and lessen the environmental impact of driving in the UK. Chancellor Rishi Sunak's March Budget is widely expected to include changes such as increased fuel duty, although the government has not confirmed it. The US House of Representatives approved a $1.9 trillion (€1.57 trillion) coronavirus stimulus fund in the early hours of Saturday morning. Lawmakers passed the bill — aimed at giving money to individuals, businesses, states and cities hit hard by the pandemic — on a narrow, near party-line vote of 219 to 212. Nigeria: Dozens killed in terrorist attack
At least 81 people died in an overnight terrorist attack in the northeast of Nigeria, security forces and residents said on Wednesday. Suspected members of the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram carried out the attack in Foduma Kolomaiya village in the Gubio area of Borno state. Retaliation Residents have cited retaliation after resisting an assault a few weeks ago as the most likely motive for the onslaught. "They came on motorcycles and vehicles and killed people at will in an attack that lasted more than two hours," said Rabiu Isa, a member of a local defense force. American airstrikes in Syria show that Iran can expect consequences for supporting militia groups threatening US interests and personnel, Joe Biden has warned. "You can't act with impunity. Be careful," the US president said when asked what message he intended to send with the airstrikes early on Friday morning on Syria 's eastern border with Iraq. Satellite images show a group of buildings before the airstrike and the obliteration of most of them after. The Pentagon said the strikes by two Air Force F-15E aircraft using seven missiles destroyed nine buildings and heavily damaged two others in eastern Syria used by Iran-backed militias.
