A SHOPPER has divided opinion with a "money saving hack"' for cutting supermarket bills. But some branded the move a step "too far" after he posted evidence of using his frugal hack while buying his groceries. Writing on a Facebook page where people share tips on how to spend less, the man admitted to taking a pen knife to the supermarket to cut off heavy broccoli stalks. He wrote: "Gobsmacked at the broccoli in-store today as all of them had stems that were huge and if you're paying by weight then all that stalk you don’t use is a waste of money . "So I got the trusty knife out and trimmed them babies down. Haha ok, it’s a tiny tiny saving but it all helps." The man posted a picture of his handiwork with the knife seen sitting next to broccoli with short stems, proving he carries out the technique while buying the nutritious vegetable.
