IT'S that time of year again, festivities are over and most of us are focusing on how to lose our Christmas bellies. But where on earth do you even start? There are so many diets out there it can be hard to know which one will work for you. Luckily the British Dietetic Association (BDA) has taken a look at some of the most popular diets around and given its verdict on whether it will work for you. What is the 5:2 diet? This diet is based on the principal of intermittent fasting, where you eat normally for five days and restrict your calorie intake for the other two. On top of losing weight, fans claim the 5:2 diet can improve lifespan and brain function, and protect against conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease. A woman was jailed for 3 months because police thought her cotton candy was meth
(CNN)A Georgia woman spent three months in jail after two deputies said a field test of a blue substance found in a car she was in turned up positive for methamphetamine. But it wasn't meth. It was cotton candy. Dasha Fincher claims that while she was in jail she missed several major life events, including the birth of twin grandchildren, and was refused medical care for a broken hand and ovarian cyst. Now she's filed a lawsuit against Monroe County and the three officers involved for wrongful imprisonment and violating her civil rights. The lawsuit also targets Sirchie Acquisition Company, the maker of the field kit the deputies used to produce the mistaken test result. A traffic stop turned into a drug charge Read More According to the lawsuit, Fincher was a passenger in a car that was pulled over by two Monroe County Sheriff's deputies on December 31, 2016. Girl, 3, ‘nearly died’ after firm ‘ignored’ warnings she was allergic to chicken and brownies at wedding reception
A TODDLER “nearly died” after having a life-threatening allergic reaction to dairy after she was given a brownie at a wedding reception. Maizy Harman suffered a “severe and life-threatening” reaction despite her parents warned the venue she could not eat egg or milk products. Hull Crown Court heard how the three-year-old was served the brownie after chicken goujons, which contained egg products, but it was the dessert that made her suffer such a severe reaction. Her family and wedding guests watched in horror as little Maizy broke out in hives, started vomiting and then fought to take a breath. Prosecutor Patrick Palmer said weddings guests described her “becoming short of breath, eyes rolling back and her head flopping around”. The little girl, who had just turned three the day before, was saved after a quick-thinking guest gave her their inhaler. When the ambulance paramedics came to the Kilnwick Percy Golf Club near Pocklington, East Yorks, Maizy … [Read more...] about Girl, 3, ‘nearly died’ after firm ‘ignored’ warnings she was allergic to chicken and brownies at wedding reception

Stacey Solomon: The crippling fear that tortured my life for six hours a day and drove me to therapy
I CAN’T discipline my boys without thinking: is that the last word I’ll say to them? I can’t have a glass of wine without wondering: have I just stolen a day from my biological clock? I can’t function any more. I have no energy left. I cannot go on like this. I wrote this heartbreaking diary entry last year when I was battling crippling health anxiety. The debilitating condition meant I spent so much of my time worrying about dying and obsessively checking my health that it took over my life. At my worst, I was so fearful of death I’d think about it for six hours a day. I remember being scared of dying at a very young age, maybe even five or six. I had no traumatic childhood experiences. There's not a point in my childhood where my mortality was questioned, but the fear was always there. Bedtime is when I get most anxious because I have time to contemplate. I’m also more likely to question my mortality and catastrophise if I’ve seen or … [Read more...] about Stacey Solomon: The crippling fear that tortured my life for six hours a day and drove me to therapy
