Queen’s job description is rewritten to reduce ‘must-do’ duties
The Queen’s role has been rewritten by Buckingham Palace, as it removes duties she “must fulfil” as monarch and entrusts more to the Prince of Wales. The Queen’s “official duties” have been edited in the palace’s annual report for the first time in at least a decade, to take out specific events such as the State Opening of Parliament that were previously considered necessary by “constitutional convention”. The new version, published following the Platinum Jubilee, places greater emphasis on the support of the wider Royal family. According to the Sovereign Grant report, signed off by Sir Michael Stevens, Keeper of the Privy Purse, the Queen’s role still comprises two key elements: Head of State and Head of Nation. As Head of State, the “formal constitutional concept”, the Queen “must fulfil” specific duties. These were previously laid out as a 13-point list, including the State Opening of Parliament, the appointment of the Prime Minister, and paying and receiving state … [Read more...] about Queen’s job description is rewritten to reduce ‘must-do’ duties
Rihanna Boycotts Super Bowl In Solidarity With Colin Kaepernick. Celebrities Applaud. | The Daily Wire
Music icon Rihanna will no longer perform at the Super Bowl half-time show in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, whom she presumably feels has been unfairly blackballed by the NFL for his protest of the national anthem during company time in front of paying customers. According to PEOPLE , a source close to the singer confirmed that she was indeed offered a chance to perform at Super Bowl 2019 alongside Maroon 5 but ultimately declined the offer. “Yes they asked her and yes, she declined,” the source said, adding that Colin Kaepernick and the #TakeAKnee movement was “likely” a deciding factor. News of Rihanna’s boycott tickled the virtue-signaling nerve of various celebrities, including feminist icon Amy Schumer. “Wouldn’t it be so cool if @adamlevine and @maroon5 stepped down too? What do you guys think?” Schumer wrote on Instagram Thursday. The next day, Schumer announced that she would no longer be performing in Super Bowl commercials and called on Maroon 5 to follow … [Read more...] about Rihanna Boycotts Super Bowl In Solidarity With Colin Kaepernick. Federal judge whose son was killed in ambush: “My son’s death cannot be in vain”
[This story originally aired on February 20.] In July 2020, Daniel Anderl, the son of federal Judge Esther Salas and attorney Mark Anderl, was shot dead by a gunman at the front door of the family's New Jersey home. Daniel Anderl, 20, took a bullet to his chest trying to protect his parents. By the time Judge Salas came to the door, the killer was gone. Her husband, Mark, was wounded. "I have direct evidence that he died heroically, that he had a holy death," says David Oakley, Daniel Anderl's godfather and a family friend. The stranger who came to Judge Salas' door had been holding a package, posing as a deliveryman. Just eight days earlier, a chillingly similar incident took place in California. When attorney Marc Angelucci came to his door to sign for a package, he was also shot dead. "He was just a down-to-earth, at the center of his soul a good-hearted person," Marc's friend, Cassie Jaye, tells CBS News correspondent Tracy Smith. "[Sighs] I was trying to make … [Read more...] about Federal judge whose son was killed in ambush: “My son’s death cannot be in vain”
