Canadian psychologist and author Dr Jordan Peterson has announced he’s quitting Twitter after receiving “an endless flood of vicious insults” on the platform. Peterson’s departure comes after he was criticised for a controversial twee t that shamed plus-size model Yumi Nu ’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover. On Monday, Peterson explained that he stopped using Twitter three weeks ago and instead instructed his staff to post to his account. However, as he started using the app again, he said his “life got worse again almost instantly.” “The endless flood of vicious insult is really not something that can be experienced anywhere else,” he continued his Twitter thread. “I like to follow the people I know but I think the incentive structure of the platform makes it intrinsically and dangerously insane.” He added: “So I told my staff to change my password, to keep me from temptation, and am departing once again. The annual AFI Fest is taking place in Los Angeles. But in the time of pandemic, the event's flagship Indie Contenders Panel went virtual this year with ticket-holders being able to watch remotely as eight performers answered questions about their 2020 roles. The eight identified by AFI as giving award-worthy performances in the past year were Riz Ahmed, Rachel Brosnahan, Winston Duke, Julia Garner, Vanessa Kirby , Elisabeth Moss, Carey Mulligan and Andy Samberg. The league announced Wednesday night that Jokic won back-to-back MVP awards. The Nuggets' big man is the second consecutive international player to win two in a row, after Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo — from Greece — was honored in 2019 and 2020. This marks the first time international players have won the award in four consecutive seasons. Canada’s Steve Nash went back-to-back for Phoenix in 2005 and 2006, followed by Germany’s Dirk Nowitzki for Dallas in 2007. International players finished 1-2-3.
