Alex Jones says lockdown ruined Matt Baker’s work plans after he quit The One Show

· March 2, 2021 ·

Alex Jones has revealed lockdown ruined Matt Baker's plans to move forward in his career after quitting The One Show last year. The pair were the regular presenters of the BBC series until Matt , 43, walked away from the role in 2020, admitting he wanted to put his family first. Alex has now opened up about how her former co-star has been getting on, admitting lockdown put a damper on all his plans for life after The One Show. She told OK! magazine : "He’s really happy as well, doing his own thing. "It's been an odd year, obviously. No one could have predicted this [the pandemic] was going to happen, so I think he hasn't been able to get on with as many projects as he was hoping to." Matt was replaced by stars including Ronan Keating, Jermaine Jenas and Chris Ramsey, who have been presenting the show alongside Alex since he left. Alex said of her new colleagues: "What I’ve loved is that they’ve all brought their own kinds of flavour to the show. "Ronan, he's … [Read more...] about Alex Jones says lockdown ruined Matt Baker’s work plans after he quit The One Show

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry's Oprah interview "will be cancelled by ITV if Prince Philip's health worsens." The bombshell tell-all interview is set to air in the US on Sunday - but the broadcast may be pulled off air in the UK due to Prince Philip’s ill health , sources claim. With the Duke of Edinburgh in hospital, aged 99, it is thought ITV is ready to pull the plug should Prince Philip deteriorate, reports Birmingham Mail . Sources say the mood at Buckingham Palace has "shifted" after the Duke was transferred to a new hospital earlier this week. One insider told the Daily Express : “I don’t imagine CBS will care but ITV won’t be able to broadcast it.” The 99-year-old royal is now battling an infection and a pre-existing heart condition at London's St Bartholomew's hospital. Public relations and crisis consultant Mark Borkowski warned that Harry and Meghan are at risk of a "real reputational mess" if they go ahead with the broadcast. Brit banker on surf-ski drowns after being swept out to sea by high winds as he ‘fought to the bitter end’

· March 3, 2021 ·

THE devastated family of a British banker who drowned after being swept out to sea on surf ski kayak said he "fought to the bitter end". Dad-of-one Rod Johnston, 46, had gone out for an afternoon paddle at popular tourist beach Camps Bay near Cape Town, before being swept away by waves in high winds. The dad-of-one from Dundee went out on Friday afternoon when the sea was quite still as he was a novice on a surf-ski. But when he failed to turn up on an evening appointment, a search and rescue operation was launched. Johnston's surf-ski was spotted adrift five miles out to sea the following day. His body was still attached to the craft by a short safety line and he had his lifejacket on but there was no sign of his paddle. Johnston's wife Debbie, 50, said: “I don’t think we will ever know the full answer to what exactly happened out there.  Whatever happened was awful and is something Rod takes to the grave with him. He would have kept on fighting for … [Read more...] about Brit banker on surf-ski drowns after being swept out to sea by high winds as he ‘fought to the bitter end’

iCarly’s Jennette McCurdy quits acting saying she’s ‘ashamed and embarrassed’

· March 3, 2021 ·

Jennette McCurdy has confirmed that she has quit acting and has slated her own career as 'embarrassing'. The 28-year-old is probably best known for her part in Nickelodeon's iCarly, in which she starred with Ariana Grande . Jennette was particularly dismissive of her career as she spoken with actress Anna Faris on the Empty Inside podcast. The former child star said that due to the anxiety she used to feel when auditioning meant that she found acting "always, always, always" difficult. Jennette said that her acting was pushed by her mother and she was the one who would sign her up for roles. When she died a few years ago, Jennette took the decision to quit the profession and will not appear in the iCarly reboot that is being planned by Paramount+. She said: "I quit a few years ago because I initially didn't want to do it. "My mom put me in it when I was six and by sort of age, I guess, 10 or 11, I was the main financial support for my family." Financial pressures … [Read more...] about iCarly’s Jennette McCurdy quits acting saying she’s ‘ashamed and embarrassed’

Mireille Darc, French sex symbol – obituary

· September 3, 2017 ·

M ireille Darc, who has died aged 79, was a French model turned actress who became a sex symbol in her heyday in the 1960s and 1970s. Willowy, and with a sleek blonde bob, Mireille Darc was known to her fans as “the grasshopper” on account of her uncannily long and slender legs. Her figure was shown to sensational effect in Yves Robert’s 1972 comedy The Tall Blond Man With One Black Shoe, in which her character is seen greeting the comedian Pierre Richard at the front door of her flat in a demure high-necked black velvet dress, only to turn round to reveal that the dress is backless, cut rather too low for modesty to be maintained. She also collaborated with Georges Lautner, Jean-Luc Godard, Edouard Molinaro, Jacques Deray, Roger Vadim, Alain Delon (whose partner she became) and Michel Audiard, starring in more than 50 films. The best known of these was probably Godard’s Weekend (1967), a film noir turned dystopian Marxist surreal fantasy, in which she and Jean Yarre played a … [Read more...] about Mireille Darc, French sex symbol – obituary
