Messages on apple watch
For anyone who already has an Apple Watch and is considering the upgrade, do it. The benefits are worth it. For those wondering whether to jump in, now may be a good time. The biggest improvement is the display screen, which is considerably larger than the previous three generations, even though the Watch itself is around the same size. This is because Apple has thinned out the bezels, meaning the non-active parts at the side of the display. (My test device is slightly wider, at 44mm instead of 42mm, while the smaller variant has been increased from 38mm to 40mm.) This has a substantial effect on the impact that messages, notifications or functions on the Watch have on my attention. They're easier to see, for one thing. This makes the Watch slightly more engaging: it's more tempting to use it to look at more involved content, even photos. Everything also feels much, much faster. The Series 2 and Series 3 Watches got things done, but there was often a somewhat perceptible lag between … [Read more...] about Tech review: Apple Watch Series 4

Edward C. Baig USA TODAY Published 9:37 AM EDT Sep 19, 2018 Funny thing about the handsome new Apple Watch Series 4 I’ve been wearing on my wrist for several days. You hope you never actually need to use some of its most noteworthy features. And yet these features – fall detection, an ECG – are primary reasons for considering Apple’s latest timepiece. At the risk of stereotyping, it’s safe to assume that Apple is grabbing at an older demographic, customers who, by and large, may have been more dismissive of earlier smart watches. As with most Apple products, Apple Watches don't come cheap. The Series 4 starts at $399 and can climb to $1,249 on higher, for a version with watch faces and bands designed by Hermes. SONY'S latest gadget isn't a smartphone or speaker. No, it's a "fashion" watch. The new Sony FES Watch U was announced at this week's IFA tech show in Berlin, and is technically a rival to the the famous Apple Watch – but it's a lot more expensive at £529. Tech watches may not be a must-have gadget, but they're now bigger than the Swiss watch industry – so everyone wants a piece of the action, including Sony. Sony has made smartwatches before, but the new FES Watch U is designed to be a proper attempt at producing a stylish timepiece – without any added faff. What's particularly cool about the FES Watch U is that it uses e-paper display technology. That's the same type of matte screen you get on a Kindle. The display makes up the face of the watch, but it also runs all the way along the strap. That means you can quickly customise how the face and strap of your watch look, editing the design on the fly. "Designs can differ on both the face and the strap, giving … [Read more...] about Sony’s FES Watch U ‘fashion’ watch has a trick even the Apple Watch CAN’T do
