What is gaslighting – and what are the signs to look out for?

Since then, the term gaslighting has become increasingly popular, with the Oxford dictionary even declaring it one of the most used words of 2018. Something funny? Anne Hathaway can’t stop laughing at Cannes photocall for film Armageddon Time
Anne Hathaway appeared to be in fits of uncontrollable laughter as she arrived at the Cannes photocall for her new film Armageddon Time , and let’s face it, we’ve all been there. The 39-year-old actress looked stunning in a black mini dress with a Barbarella-style blue PVC bustier, which she teamed with a pair of silver platforms as she arrived for the shoot with co-star Jeremy Strong . She also sported a pair of vintage-style sunglasses which she removed as she posed for photographers with her cast members. In some of the pics, Hathaway could be seen covering her mouth to conceal her amusement before smiling and covering her entire face, and although we applied our best investigative journalism to find out the source of her entertainment, we failed. The star was promoting her new movie, which is an autobiographical coming-of-age drama about growing up in Queens in the 1980s, written and directed by James Gray. Amazon’s head of hardware wants to ‘enjoy the real world’ rather than put people in the metaverse
Amazon ’s head of devices has said that the company is working on devices that help people to “enjoy the real world” rather than the metaverse . Speaking at the ‘Future of Everything Festival’ hosted by The Wall Street Journal , David Limp said that while there might be “some form of place-shifting” with regards to the future of devices, Amazon’s focus is on devices that “enhance the here and now.” Mr Limp said that he wants “to try to work on technologies that bring people’s heads up, get them to enjoy the real world [and] make the family a more communal experience”. With regards to the metaverse, Mr Limp said the definition of the technology was nebulous. “If I asked these few hundred people what they thought the metaverse was, we’d get 205 different answers. We don’t have a common definition, it means a lot of different things to a lot of different people”, he said. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and head of its parent company Meta, is betting on … [Read more...] about Amazon’s head of hardware wants to ‘enjoy the real world’ rather than put people in the metaverse

Nicola Sturgeon will work with anyone who supports the break-up of the UK, say Scottish Tories
Nicola Sturgeon has been accused of working with “anyone so long as they support the break-up of the UK” after meeting Sinn Fein’s vice president at her official residence. The First Minister held talks with Michelle O’Neill at Bute House in Edinburgh, after Sinn Fein became the largest party in the Northern Ireland Assembly for the first time at the Stormont election earlier this month. Ms O’Neill could now become Northern Ireland’s first nationalist first minister, meaning two of the three devolved administrations would be led by parties determined to hold votes on leaving the UK. Ms Sturgeon is expected to unveil legislation shortly for a second independence referendum , to be staged next year, while Sinn Fein wants a vote on Irish reunification . It is understood the two leaders did not discuss their joint interest in secession, instead focusing on the cost of living crisis, the Northern Ireland Protocol and the formation of a new Northern Ireland Executive. … [Read more...] about Nicola Sturgeon will work with anyone who supports the break-up of the UK, say Scottish Tories
Buck, Aikman excited about ‘starting over’ with ESPN
It's been two months since Joe Buck jumped from Fox to ESPN . It wasn’t until Monday that the gravity of moving into the “Monday Night Football” booth hit him. Buck and Troy Aikman made their first trips to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut , to meet with executives and future co-workers who are preparing for the upcoming season. “It literally dropped out of the sky. The more I get around it, Troy and I were just blown away. We were in a conference room an hour ago with 20-plus people from all different parts of the support staff for ‘Monday Night Football,’ and it was overwhelming. I actually got emotional talking about it,” Buck said Monday in his first comments since ESPN signed him and Aikman in March. Aikman had considered pairing Thursday night games on Amazon with a reduced Fox schedule that would allow him to keep working the playoffs and Super Bowl. As trying to put that together became more challenging, ESPN started talking to the Hall of Fame … [Read more...] about Buck, Aikman excited about ‘starting over’ with ESPN
