The Peel resident, who is a medical professional that wishes to remain anonymous, is urging owners to keep their pets on leads after her ankle was left badly wounded by a loose dog while riding a bike.’I would just hate for it to happen to someone else, like children,’ she told the Manx Independent.’Animals are attracted by speed. A man was attacked by two dogs on a cycle path in Swansea, which left him needing hospital treatment. Rhys Thomas, aged 28, from Pontardawe said the incident has left him in shock. Mr Thomas was cycling home on Sunday, July 8, when the alleged attack happened. He said: "It was 6.45pm and I was on the cycle track which passes the Pant-y-Blawd Road gypsy-traveller site in Llansamlet . "I had cycled from Pontardawe to Swansea and on my return journey back to Pontardawe I noticed two unsupervised dogs on the cycle track. "One dog was a small dog with a white coat and the other was a medium-sized dog with a black coat and brown markings on its ears. "As I was cycling passed the two dogs, I was wary as dogs do have a tendency of walking in front or around the bike. A woman is in intensive care after being flung from her horse when it was startled by an off-lead dog on a popular Canterbury riding track.Barbara Coates suffered a broken neck, serious spinal injuries and "shattered" arms in the incident at Waimakariri's Baynons Brake horse park, north of Christchurch, on June 10.Her friend Ros Lugg, a qualified riding instructor, has urged Environment Canterbury (ECan), which is responsible for the track, to clamp down on dogs in the park and wants owners to be forced to leash their pets to ensure the same thing won't happen again.
