Sharran Sutherland, 40, took the heartbreaking images of the four-inch-long baby who weighed just 26g, showing his fully-formed face, hands, feet and tiny fingernails. Babies can't be classified as a baby until they're 20-weeks-old - meaning that Miran would have been disposed as medical waste by the hospital if his parent's hadn't intervened. So mum-of-11 Sharran and her husband Michael, kept their baby in their fridge for a week before burying him in a flowerpot under a hydrangea bush. Despite the devasting heartbreak, Sharran says that she's "grateful" she got the chance to give birth, see and hold Miran before she said goodbye. Hundreds of tonnes of clinical waste including human organs, body parts and dangerous medical chemicals have been stockpiled by one of the NHS’s biggest disposal contractors, a leaked report has revealed. The Healthcare Environment Services (HES) Ltd group has contracts with up to 50 NHS trusts to incinerate or dispose of amputated body parts, toxic chemotherapy chemicals, and potentially infectious bodily fluids. The government said there is no risk to the public but the backlog has sparked multiple Environment Agency warnings and a meeting of the Cobra national incident committee. NHS England documents leaked to the Health Service Journal (HSJ) show that the health secretary, Matt Hancock, identified £1m at the ministerial meeting last month. Trusts … [Read more...] about Human body parts and organs among tonnes of medical waste stockpiled by NHS contractor
