Katy Perry under fire for abortion rights tweet after endorsing Rick Caruso

July 5, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Katy Perry is being slammed for her abortion rights tweet after endorsing Rick Caruso for Los Angeles mayor. On Monday, July 4, the "Dark Horse" singer, 37, posted via Twitter: "'Baby you're a firework' is a 10 but women in the U.S. have fewer rights than an actual sparkler smh." Fans were quick to remind the singer that she advocated for the billionaire businessman, 63, who previously opposed abortion . "You supported an anti-abortion mayoral candidate in the last 30 days," one person tweeted, while sharing a screenshot Perry's June 5 tweet, which read: "RICK CARUSO FTW [for the win]!" A second user said: "You wouldn't know it from all the ads, but Rick Caruso is a Republican anti-abortion candidate. He has done a great job creating a misleading image of himself for voters. Please pay attention and look into candidates' backgrounds." "Hypocrite," another simply wrote. Newsweek reached out to Perry for comment. Caruso, now running as a Democrat, was once a … [Read more...] about Katy Perry under fire for abortion rights tweet after endorsing Rick Caruso

CNN Grills Sanders Campaign Over Socialism. They Respond By Quoting Shakespeare, Making False Claims. | The Daily Wire

February 22, 2020 by www.dailywire.com

Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) campaign responded to criticisms from CNN over its socialist platform late this week by quoting Shakespeare and making a false claim. Nina Turner, national co-chair of the Sanders campaign, made the remarks during a segment on CNN’s “Newsroom,” which featured fallout from this week’s Democrat debate on NBC. CNN’s Brooke Baldwin said, “There’s this new ‘Wall Street Journal’/NBC News poll that found that two-thirds of the respondents said that they were actually uncomfortable with a socialist president.” “But when you break it down – Shakespeare once said, what is in a name? A rose by any other name smells just as sweet,” Turner responded. “What is Democratic socialism? It is government of the people, by the people, and for the people. What does that mean?” “I am talking about this particular poll,” Baldwin responded. “And I want to – I want an answer on the fact that the majority of America is not comfortable with a … [Read more...] about CNN Grills Sanders Campaign Over Socialism. Things were terrible,” he said. “The founding of this nation? Awful. You know, but we are here now and we should commit ourselves to doing everything we can do to repair the harm because it still exists today – the harm, the damage – whether it was colonization, whether it was slavery, the impacts are felt today, they’re going to continue to be felt unless we address it in a meaningful way.” WATCH: Wisconsin Democrat Senate candidate Mandela Barnes says the founding of America was “awful!” pic.twitter.com/EgvIKYi9qH — RNC Research (@RNCResearch) July 5, 2022 Barnes, who is running against Sen. Trump knew he was “playacting” during presidential run, Scaramucci says

July 5, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Donald Trump had openly admitted that he was "playacting" while running for president in 2016 and was aware his act was "all a lie," according to Anthony Scaramucci. Scaramucci, who lasted just 10 days as Trump's White House Communications Director before being fired in July 2017, made the remarks as part of a New York Times article highlighting the former president's state of mind in and around the January 6 attack. Scaramucci, who is now a vocal and frequent critic of Trump, suggested that Trump was well aware the 2020 Election was not stolen and that his attempts to overturn the results were illegal, but continued to push the "big lie" to his supporters regardless —behavior which Scaramucci claimed is reminiscent of his first run for the presidency. "I do believe that President Trump knows that the whole thing that he is doing is a ruse," Scaramucci told The New York Times. "On more than one occasion throughout the campaign [in 2016] he would turn to me and … [Read more...] about Trump knew he was “playacting” during presidential run, Scaramucci says

‘Haven’t Made A Decision’: Liz Cheney Refuses To Rule Out 2024 Presidential Run | The Daily Wire

July 5, 2022 by www.dailywire.com

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) refused to rule out a run for the White House in 2024 on Sunday, saying she still hasn’t made a decision. Cheney made the comments during a Sunday interview on ABC News’ “This Week” with Jonathan Karl regarding the January 6 hearings. “I’ll make a decision about ’24 down the road,” Cheney said . “I think about it less in terms of a decision about running for office, and more in terms of, you know, as an American – and as somebody who’s in a position of public trust now, how do I make sure that I’m doing everything I can to do the right thing; to do what I know is right for the country, and, and to protect our Constitution,” she added. It’s not the first time Cheney has hinted at running for the Oval Office. In May 2021, the congresswoman pushed back after being removed from her role as chair of the House Republican Congress. “The party is going to come back stronger, and I’m going to lead the effort to do it,” Cheney responded at the time. Puzzled, bored, overly negative: I read the room at Keir Starmer’s ‘Make Brexit Work’ speech

July 5, 2022 by www.independent.co.uk

What is it with three-word slogans about Europe ? Boris Johnson tried “Get Brexit Done”. Now Sir Keir Starmer has come up with “Make Brexit Work”. He first tried out the slogan at the CBI last November. It failed to catch fire then. Now, he has relaunched it at the Irish Embassy for the 24 th anniversary of thinktank the Centre for European Reform. The CER is the best of the new European policy thinktanks set up towards the end of the last century as Britain appeared fully to engage with Europe following the lost years of John Major’s early Tory hostility to the EU after the Maastricht Treaty. But in European capitals, no-one in politics, diplomacy or journalism has any interest in what anyone in London thinks or says on Europe. Britain is back where it was in the 1950s and 1960s, as Conservative and Labour politicians ignored developments that allowed Europe to put a century of war in the file marked “History – Do Not Reopen” and showed how market dynamics … [Read more...] about Puzzled, bored, overly negative: I read the room at Keir Starmer’s ‘Make Brexit Work’ speech

What ‘Unprecedented’ trailer reveals about Donald Trump’s family

July 5, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

The trailer for Alex Holder's three-part docuseries Unprecedented, which details Donald Trump and his family during the 2020 presidential campaign and after the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, has emerged. The documentary trailer, which is due to be broadcast on Discovery+ sometime in the summer , was obtained by Politico. While not detailing too much, the Unprecedented trailer does show how much access Holder had around the Trump family during the final stages of the 2020 campaign and prior to the Capitol riot. The footage shows members of the Trump family—the former president, Ivanka Trump , Eric Trump , Donald Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner —in outtakes as they are setting up for interviews. The trailer also shows clips from Trump rallies across the country during the final few weeks of the campaign, including one where Trump Jr. states "we will make liberals cry again." The president's eldest son made a similar remark on the eve of Election Day in … [Read more...] about What ‘Unprecedented’ trailer reveals about Donald Trump’s family
