Boris Johnson is expected to present his 'final offer' Brexit proposals to the EU in the coming days as he tries to secure a deal before the October 31 deadline. The Prime Minister will submit a formal plan setting out how the UK believes the Irish border backstop can be replaced. Today it emerged that the PM's proposed way forward could include the introduction of so-called 'customs clearance centres' away from the border. But how would they work and are they actually a part of the government's thinking? All of the key questions are answered below as the battle for Brexit enters its final phase. In broad terms, what is the plan to replace the backstop? Mr Johnson's proposals are expected to be based on establishing a so-called all-Ireland 'economic zone'. This zone would allow certain items to move across the Irish border without any checks because both sides would stick to the same … [Read more...] about ‘Customs clearance centres’ on either side of the Irish border, factory gates checks and ‘an all-Ireland economic zone’… so how WOULD Boris Johnson’s Brexit plan actually work?

Boris Johnson went to war with his own sister today, accusing her of 'talking nonsense' by suggesting he wanted a hard Brexit to help City moneymen make a financial killing. The Prime Minister said Remainer Rachel Johnson was 'wrong' to claim that he was acting on behalf of vested financial interests who want to exploit Brexit to make money betting against Britain. Ms Johnson, 54, a former Change UK election candidate, told Sky News last week that her brother might have been backing 'people who have invested billions in shorting the pound or shorting the country'. He dismissed the claims in an interview with LBC this morning as he did a series of broadcast interviews ahead of a speech tomorrow at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester. 'She’s wrong but, I’m not going to, I’m not going to get dragged into conversations about my beloved family,' he said. The Prime Minister said Remainer Rachel … [Read more...] about Boris Johnson accuses his sister Rachel of talking ‘absolute nonsense’ over her claim that he wants a No Deal Brexit to help hedge funds make billions as he admits ‘I disagree with some people in my family’ over politics
BORIS Johnson will call on voters to “end the groundhoggery of Brexit” in a bid to define the key choice ahead of them in the December 12 general election. And in a dramatic departure from politicians’ usual language, Boris will also accuse rival Jeremy Corbyn of “political onanism” – which means masturbation or having sex with yourself. Only by giving the Tories a majority can Britain “get out of the rut” and end the crippling logjam of the last three years, the PM will argue in his first stump speech of the campaign. Alternatively, a vote for the Labour boss will “waste more time” and mean two more referendums - one on EU membership and the other on Scottish independence.Addressing supporters at a West Midlands electric car factory, the PM will argue: “The UK is admired and respected around the world but people are baffled by our debate on Brexit and they cannot understand how this great country can squander so much … [Read more...] about Election: Boris Johnson warns voters that Britain faces ‘political onanism’ of Brexit under Jeremy Corbyn
It has been condemned as the Cabinet of Chaos – a collection of opposition MPs and Tory Remainer rebels who could seize the reins of power if Boris Johnson’s Government falls next month. The plum Foreign Office job is being lined up for high-profile Tory rebel Rory Stewart Draft lists of how an ‘interim’ Coalition Cabinet would look have been drawn up by Labour and Liberal Democrat strategists. They are planning for a situation where the two parties form a government with Scottish Nationalists and the 21 Tory rebels booted out by Mr Johnson for defying him on Brexit. The ‘war-gaming’ is taking place amid mounting speculation that the Prime Minister will be forced to quit if he fails to secure a Brexit deal, with the Tories replaced by a so-called ‘unity government’ committed to delaying the UK’s departure from the EU. Yesterday’s dramatic events at Labour’s conference – where deputy leader Tom Watson fought off an … [Read more...] about Welcome to the Chaos Cabinet: If Boris Johnson falls this motley crew of opposition MPs and Tory Remainer rebels could seize the reins of power
