Tom Hardy has responded to claims by Charlize Theron that the pair had a frosty relationship on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road. A new book Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild And True Story Of Mad Max: Fury Road by New York Times columnist Kyle Buchanan claims Theron and Hardy screamed at each other in front of cast and crew and he made her feel unsafe. It is claimed Theron, who played villain Imperator Furiosa, branded Hardy a "f**king c***" after he turned up on set hours late. Theron alleged she asked to have a female producer be with her at all times as "protection" against Hardy, 44, who played the lead character in the 2015 blockbuster. The Mail reported Hardy addressed the friction between the pair to Buchanan, saying: "In hindsight, I was in over my head in many ways. The pressure on both of us was overwhelming at times. Specifically, the dynamic between its two protagonists, LAPD detective Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) and professional thief Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro), had transfixed him as far back as the 1970s, when the Chicago detective Chuck Adamson planted the germ of a movie idea in the director’s head. Adamson told Mann about the time he got coffee with the real-life McCauley, and about how he and the thief developed a mutual respect for each other before Adamson’s team later killed McCauley in the street.
