Queen Elizabeth can make an exception and grant her great-grandchild one at the request of their parents, but given their aversion to royal protocols, it seems the couple are more likely to follow in Princess Anne's footsteps and shun titles altogether as she did for her children - Zara and Peter Phillips. Emerald green was the colour of choice as the Duchess of Cambridge celebrated St Patrick's Day at a parade of the Irish Guards. The former Kate Middleton and Prince William, who is Colonel of the Irish Guards, met soldiers from the 1st Battalion at their base in Hounslow, west London. They led a minute of silence to pay respects to the victims of Friday's terror attack at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Kate wore a long green, military-inspired coat by Alexander McQueen with a Cartier gold shamrock brooch, a matching Lock and Co hat, and heels, while William wore his military uniform. They reunited with their furry friend Domhnall, an Irish wolfhound and mascot they have met several times previously. Kate patted and stroked the dog several times while presenting him with a shamrock. For Xu Meiru, 38, the thought of having a second child is exhausting. Her days typically begin at 5am, don’t end until 11pm, and are filled with shuttling her nine-year-old son to school, helping him with his homework, preparing meals and running an online clothing business. “It’s hard to find time even to sleep for a few minutes in a chair,” she says, sitting in a McDonald’s while her son plays a game on a phone, the detritus of a Happy Meal in front of him. Most tiring is the constant worry over whether she is doing enough to help him get ahead. He goes to music lessons, taekwondo classes and extra English tutoring. She spends the first week of every summer and winter break helping him prepare for the next term.
