It’s extraordinary stuff – but it does leave you wondering where Acaster’s standup career can possibly go next. I didn’t feel that way when I first saw the show, a year before this Hackney performance was recorded. But watching the stream, I was struck by how cynical Acaster sounded about Britain, the world – and his comedy. There’s a moment, too, when he berates his audience for tweeting about his shows, which is amusingly brusque, and just that bit too close to the bone.
