Linda Robson recalls terrifying moment she saved singer’s young son in shop

May 25, 2022 by www.mirror.co.uk

Linda Robson has recalled the terrifying moment that she saved the life of Sade's young son. The Birds of a Feather star, 64, appeared on Loose Women today as the panel spoke about how they would cope in an emergency. Speaking about a memory that has stuck with her over the years, she explained that she had helped prevent a tragedy after Sade's young son ran out of a shop. Linda had been in the store at the time with her own children. She told her co-stars: "I was in a shop in Upper Street - it was a children's clothes shop and I had my kids in there, they were quite young. "There was a woman in there paying at the till and all of a sudden someone opened the shop door and then this little boy went to walk out - it's right onto a main road. Linda Robson recalled the moment on Loose Women ( Image: ITV) "Anyway, I grabbed the little boy running back into the boy and it was Sade's little boy. The Silent Twins

July 10, 2007 by www.theguardian.com

D rawn from Marjorie Wallace's book of the same title, April de Angelis's libretto for Errollyn Wallen's new opera tells the enigmatic story of identical twins June and Jennifer Gibbons. Born in 1963 in Barbados but brought up in south Wales, their intense relationship separated them from their parents and community, and eventually saw them incarcerated in Broadmoor in 1982 following a chaotic and seemingly exhibitionistic crime spree. It ended within hours of their release 11 years later, when Jennifer suddenly and mysteriously died. In between, it consisted of love, rivalry and hatred. The twins not only baffled their parents, but also various schools, social agencies and eventually psychiatrists. Declining to speak to others, they focused exclusively on each other. Their self-published teenage literary productions were prodigious. Wallen's score seizes the opportunity of defining the twins' isolated, self-created world through music that is immediate without being … [Read more...] about The Silent Twins

Winter skin: It’s time for serious and sustained hydration

May 24, 2022 by www.stuff.co.nz

*Harriet Pudney is a beauty aficionado and former Stuff journalist who lives in Melbourne. OPINION: As I write this, I am wearing two layers of wool and a pair of cashmere socks. The Bureau of Meteorology app informs me that it feels like 6.6C in Melbourne right now. The streets are awash with puffer jackets, and sales of rosé are plummeting. It is “two duvet” weather if your house isn’t double-glazed. It is hardly the Arctic circle, but it is definitely winter, and my skin is telling me about it. For the past few weeks, I have found my foundation won’t sit right, my lips keep flaking, and every tiny spot turns into a dry patch of skin that takes days to resolve. This is all disastrous, and it is all due to the cold and the wind. Every step outside is sapping moisture from my skin. Of course, I can’t just stay inside, and I am unwilling to join a gym purely for sauna access, so I am having to address this with skincare. This refreshing airline amenity is making a comeback

May 25, 2022 by www.independent.co.uk

For those among us who like a tipple after takeoff, consider this a sign that the world is healing: Many airlines are resuming in-flight meals and alcohol service. Early on in the pandemic, many airlines completely cut in-flight refreshment offerings (aside from perhaps a hasty water bottle delivery). Slowly but surely, airlines are reintroducing the amenity. For example, in 2020, Southwest Airlines cut service completely on short flights and offered only water and a prepackaged snack on longer flights. In 2021, Southwest reintroduced a small selection of nonalcoholic drinks to all flights. It wasn’t until February 2022 that its complete pre-pandemic beverage menu returned, which included more soda and juice choices — plus alcoholic beverages for an additional cost. Other airlines moved a bit more quickly. By July 2020, Delta Air Lines was offering beer cans and single-serve wine bottles. It wasn’t until March 2022 that it brought back hot meals for its Delta One … [Read more...] about This refreshing airline amenity is making a comeback

Inside Amazon’s new UK warehouse as the e-commerce giant gears up for a blow-out Christmas

November 19, 2020 by www.telegraph.co.uk

Neil Travis is looking sheepish as he stands in the entrance lobby of Amazon’s vast logistics centre in Kegworth near Derby. The regional director has just set off the “social distancing” siren for the third time in as many minutes. “Stay safe,” bellows a voice around the lobby. “Please adhere to the two metre distancing.” “That was young Wayne’s voice there," shouts Travis apologetically, as he nods at one of the security team sitting behind a perspex screen. The announcements, he explains, are triggered by cameras fitted with artificial intelligence technology to monitor when workers are within two metres of each other for more than three seconds. It is just one of many safety measures put in place at Jeff Bezos's sprawling empire to protect itself from a Covid outbreak. After all, Amazon has no time for a shutdown. Even before the pandemic, Amazon was already a huge force in ecommerce - responsible for one third of all online sales in the UK. Since March, it has ballooned … [Read more...] about Inside Amazon’s new UK warehouse as the e-commerce giant gears up for a blow-out Christmas

Newsweek has everything you need to know about the ending of Peaky Blinders. What Happened in The Season 6 Finale of Peaky Blinders ? Goodbye Lizzie The final ever episode of Peaky Blinders picked up from the events of the end of Episode 5, when Diana Mitford (Amber Anderson) revealed at the dinner table to Lizzie (Natasha O'Keefe) that she had slept with her husband. Quite rightly, this was the last straw for Lizzie who had been holding onto her marriage by a thread throughout the final season. Despite Tommy's hopes Lizzie would understand his actions because he just "had to … [Read more...] about “Peaky Blinders” ending explained: What happened in the season 6 finale?
