Man Utd target Erling Haaland throws water bottle in frustration after Liverpool score in Red Bull Salzburg showdown
RED BULL SALZBURG striker Erling Haaland took out his frustration on a water bottle after Liverpool scored their second goal of the game. The in-demand forward failed to make an impact in Austria as Naby Keita and Mo Salah's goals secured Liverpool Champions League qualification. Haaland - a transfer target for a host of Premier League clubs - was subbed off after 75 minutes having missed a golden chance to give Salzburg a first-half lead. After Mane made it two, the 19-year-old striker was chucked a bottle of water, but too angry to take a swig he instead smashed it on the ground. Haaland predicted before the match that Liverpool would be beaten 3-1 including a hat-trick for himself. Despite the bold claim, the teen star - who has 28 goals in 22 games this term - failed to deliver against a side he could be facing next season. The giant Norwegian continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United. Chelsea secure place in Champions League last-16 as Tammy Abraham and Cesar Azpilicueta goals hold off late Remy strike
THE love-in has been deep, the reconnection between team and support has been palpable. But for all the hearts and flowers, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea needed a first cast-iron achievement - and last night it was delivered. Advancing to the Champions League knock-out stages from a testing group is a decent feat to chalk up - even though this clinching victory was a stroll in a rain-lashed park for long periods. The Blues got plenty of help from a lilly-livered Lille, who rested most of their best players and barely looked interested before a late rally brought them a goal through former Chelsea man Loic Remy. But first-half strikes from Tammy Abraham and Cesar Azpilicueta were enough to see the Blues through as Group H runners-up. It is five years since Chelsea last reached a Champions League quarter-final but they are now just one tie away - and they head into Monday’s last-16 draw in good heart. And now their transfer ban has been lifted, Lampard will doubtless be provided … [Read more...] about Chelsea secure place in Champions League last-16 as Tammy Abraham and Cesar Azpilicueta goals hold off late Remy strike

A young woman who wielded a bunch of red roses in a wild racecourse brawl claims she was trying to defend her father, brother and boyfriend when they were set upon as they left the racecourse. Chelsea player ratings: Willian and Tammy Abraham lead way but Kepa struggles against Lille
IT looked like Chelsea had booked their spot in the Champions League Round of 16 until Lille gave them a fright late on. The game should already have been put to bed when Loic Remy's strike crashed in off the crossbar against his former side to put the Ligue 1 team back into the contest. The Blues had been dominant and could have been further ahead, but Stamford Bridge was nervy in the final stages, as a Lille equaliser would have sent Chelsea crashing out. Frank Lampard's side managed to hold out, however, but will have to be more clinical if they are to make an impact on this tournament post-Christmas. SunSport's Etienne Fermie runs the rule over how Chelsea's stars performed. KEPA ARRIZABALAGA - 5 No chance for Loic Remy's goal, otherwise didn't have much to do.CESAR AZPILICUETA - 7 Lovely near post header to put Chelsea 2-0 up. Got to the byline well and spent a lot of his time in Lille's final third. Beaten a little easily by Bamba in the build-up to Remy's goal.
