MINI MATCH REPORT It was a second successive scoreless stalemate for Stoke City as they drew 0-0 with Derby County. Stoke made one change from the goalless draw at Queens Park Rangers with Ryan Woods returning following a sending off for Sam Clucas at Loftus Road. It was a hard earned point as goalkeeper Jack Butland and Danny Batth and Co provided a solid platform for the result which makes it six unbeaten for the Potters. James McClean came closest to breaking the deadlock for the visitors when his header struck the crossbar, while Harry Wilson's free-kick rattled the woodwork for the Rams. Despite Derby pressure, Nathan Jones' men were able to keep their third clean sheet in a row. There was more injury frustration, however, with Benik Afobe departing with a hamstring injury just before half-time. Derby boss Frank Lampard singled out Butland for praise, while the latest stalemate left Potters fans a little confused as to whether they should have a glass half full or half empty … [Read more...] about Boss singles out this man as Stoke City leave some fans confused

You probably haven't been able to ignore a 10-year challenge on social media over the past few days and weeks. You might have even done one yourself. The thinking is that people tweet, Facebook or Instagram pictures of themselves now next to snaps dating back a decade. For what exact purpose no one knows. Now it's Stoke City's turn. A lot has changed in 10 years at the bet365 Stadium, which was just the one-corned Britannia Stadium back then, as Stoke were fighting to establish themselves back in the top flight after a dramatic promotion season. A promising autumn, when Tony Pulis's side went on a run of four wins in seven games - including earning the scalps of Tottenham and Arsenal - was followed by a hard winter. A run of 11 matches without a win even featured a League Cup home defeat to Derby. But Pulis struck gold twice in a crucial January transfer window, bringing in Matthew Etherington and James Beattie from West Ham and Sheffield United respecitively. Both would combine to … [Read more...] about The Stoke City 10-year challenge: where are Tony Pulis’s 2009 squad now?
Bojan is a wanted man. The Stoke City playmaker is reported to be the subject of a £50,000-a-week offer from ambitious MLS outfit New England Revolution… and the Potters are ready to let him leave for nothing. The Sun claims Bojan is already in talks with New England, who are coached by former Blackburn, Villa and Spurs keeper Brad Friedel. They says he has been offered a three-year deal to move Stateside and that Stoke are happy to let him leave for free to get his £27,000-a-week wages off their books. Alan Nixon, the Sun’s respected transfer expert, writes: “The former Barcelona youngster is under pressure to decide immediately as the Revolution start pre-season training this week. “The Spaniard turned down an approach from Huddersfield and has interest in Spain, but nothing like the deal he can land in the US.” The 28-year-old has yet to play for new Stoke manager Nathan Jones, a lingering virus reported to have ruled him out of defeats to … [Read more...] about Stoke City star offered £50,000-a-week deal to move Stateside
Rotherham 2 Stoke City 2 Manning (pen,47), Towell (50); Ince (59), Bojan (85); MATCH VERDICT You couldn’t make it up, you really couldn’t. Even when they have been dominating a game, as they were here for pretty much the first 45 minutes, Stoke can still go and concede twice in the blink of an eye. But thank goodness they had the good grace to only go 2-0 down this time and so their now customary two-goal comeback yielded some reward at the final whistle. Bojan will steal the headlines with his late equaliser and his adoring fans can be forgiven for rejoicing a rare moment of the old magic. Defensively, problems remain, but once more you can’t fault the spirit this team has when its back is pinned against the wall. GOALS Rotherham 1 Stoke 0 (47): Ryan Williams is brought down by Ashley Williams as he wriggles into the area at a tight angle left of goal and the ref points straight to the spot for Ryan Manning to net, in exactly the same fashion as he did against Derby … [Read more...] about Rotherham United Stoke City 2: 90 second verdict as Bojan heads Potters level
Moritz Bauer appears to be an unhappy man… and Stoke City fans have rallied around the Austrian defender. Bauer was one of the few highlights of Stoke City’s relegation season following his arrival from Russian club Rubin Kazan in January. And Stoke bosses were so impressed that they gave the 26-year-old a new five-year contract in the summer to offset the financial penalties that came with relegation. However, Bauer’s introduction to Championship football has been a nightmare for the popular right-back, so much so that he is now playing for the club’s academy side. And before turning out as an over-age player for the under-21s at Sunderland last night, he published a cryptic message on social media strongly hinting that he is not a happy chappie. In an Instagram post that was replicated on Twitter after the game, he wrote: “You got to hide the anger. Practising smiling in the mirror. It’s like putting on a mask… #scfc … [Read more...] about Potters fans rally around Stoke City outcast
