English clubs may not be able to sign anyone following the closure of the Premier League transfer window last week, but they remain on red alert as European rivals continue to push for more deals. The biggest ongoing saga remains Neymar, desperate to quit Paris Saint-Germain - both Barcelona and Real Madrid are pushing to land the Brazilian. Philippe Coutinho could head to Paris in a player-plus-cash swap deal with the Catalan giants, but Florentino Perez, the Madrid president, remains keen and PSG would prefer to deal with the capital club. He's not the only man Madrid are continuing to pursue, with Zinedine Zidane still keen on Manchester United star Paul Pogba ahead of their September 2 deadline. Derby County youngster Liam Delap is set to be closing in a move to Manchester City, according to DerbyshireLive . The 16-year-old is thought to have caught the eye of City scouts with a string of impressive performances last season. Should the transfer be completed, then the Rams will be entitled to compensation for Delap, who is the son of former Premier League star Rory. Swansea City are close to appointing Steve Cooper as their new manager. Sky Sports and various other media outlets are reporting that a formal announcement of the appointment will take place by the end of the week. Cooper, who has previously spent time working at Liverpool’s Academy, will leave his current role as England Under-17 boss to take up the post.
