Staggeringly it has been nearly 25 years since The Upper Hand came to an end. Starting in May 1990, the much-loved ITV sitcom ran for seven series until the final episode aired in October 1996. Adapted from American sitcom Who's The Boss?, The Upper Hand focused on affluent single mum Caroline Wheately trying to raise her son. Along with the help of her mother Laura West, Caroline employed a live-in housekeeper named Charlie Burrows to help get her life back on track. Comic Lee Mack has revealed that the first time he experimented with drugs — taking cocaine at his best friend’s stag do — he became obsessed with cleaning a kitchen, even putting on an apron and Marigolds.
