By Abdul Kerimkhanov General Electric completed the delivery of the first batch of main equipment, including two gas turbines and two generators for new units being built as part of the modernization of the Takhiatash TPP in Uzbekistan. The company implements this project in partnership with the South Korean EPC contractor - a consortium of Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd, Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. The equipment was delivered to the port of Vlissingen (the Netherlands), from where it was transported through the Mediterranean, Black and Azov Sea, then through the Volga-Don Canal to the Caspian Sea to the port of Kuryk in Kazakhstan and then by truck to the construction site in Uzbekistan. The project envisages the construction of two combined-cycle plants (CCP) with a total capacity of 580 MW. The launch of the first stage of the CCP is scheduled for 2020. School in Biddenham launches major projects in university partnership
Students, staff, parents and special guests gathered at Biddenham School for the partnership launch of two major projects with the University of Bedfordshire. The two projects are the school’s £1.1m fundraising appeal to create a ‘Student Parliament and Citizenship Centre’ and the launch of Biddenham Parliamentary Society, which is being developed during this academic year in advance of the grand opening of the new building in September 2019. Opened by Shannon Hussain, former head girl at Biddenham and recent 1st class honours graduate from University of Bedfordshire, the event heard Bill Rammell, the university’s vice chancellor commit himself wholeheartedly to the partnership project. In the spring of 2011, there was still firm hope that Wales would have a brand new hotel that would become the country's tallest building. It would be 32 storeys high, run by an American luxury hotel chain and have a water bus linking the 200-room hotel to Cardiff city centre. It would be open within two years. But by the time 2013 came around, the scheme had been revised - it was now more focused on apartments and retail, with the hotel to follow at a later date. Five years on, and the hotel still hasn't been built. It's one of many ambitious major projects in Wales that have been planned, developed substantially but, for various reasons, never seen the light of day. Major projects in Sudbury and Hadleigh could receive almost £1m under new scheme
Almost £1 million could be invested into major infrastructure projects in Sudbury and Hadleigh, as Suffolk looks to retain extra cash from business rates under a new pilot scheme.The Suffolk Public Sector Leaders Group (PSLG) successfully applied to be part of the Government’s business rate retention programme, through which it hopes to keep an extra £10.4 million collected from local businesses in 2018/19.Through the one-year pilot scheme, the group says it will be able to retain 100 per cent of growth in Suffolk business rates, to be invested in local projects.In Babergh, projects identified for funding include £500,000 for ‘unlocking Sudbury town centre’, including regenerations of Hamilton Road and Belle Vue.An investment of £200,000, possibly jointly with the Local Enterprise Partnership, is proposed for the Delphi site, Newton Road and the South Suffolk Business Centre area if Sudbury.Finally, £200,000 could go towards the planned … [Read more...] about Major projects in Sudbury and Hadleigh could receive almost £1m under new scheme
