Giant Iceland volcano system may erupt after 17,000 earthquakes recorded in a week
MORE than 17,000 earthquakes have been recorded in the south-west of Iceland, in the Reykjanes Peninsula, during the past week. People living in the area have been advised to be extra careful due to dangers of landslides and rockfall. Many of the larger earthquakes have even been felt in Iceland's capital city, Reykjavik (where over half of the population lives), which lies only 27km away. This has led to heightened concerns about the effects of even larger earthquakes and also of a possible eruption from the Krýsuvík volcanic system in the area. South-west Iceland has a track record of centuries of calm, which we know can be broken by turbulent periods of intense earthquake activity accompanied by volcanic eruptions. Last man called by one of the murdered ‘Essex Boys’ was never questioned by police
The last man called by one of three gangsters murdered in the 1995 “Essex Boys” killings was never questioned by police, it has emerged. Retired detective David McKelvey says the suspected villain was linked to a man who has previously been named as the shooter, but was never charged. Instead Jack Whomes and Michael Steele were jailed for life after being convicted of blasting the drug dealers with a shotgun in their Range Rover 26 years ago. But Mr McKelvey, and his team of highly experienced former murder detectives, now claim to have found evidence supporting the account of an East End crook who told police he was the getaway driver for the real killer. TIGER Woods was found unconscious in his SUV after his crash by a local man, new court documents revealed on Friday. A man who lives near the Rolling Hills Estates told law enforcement officials he heard a crash and walked to the accident scene where he saw Woods, according to an affidavit submitted by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Johann Schloegl. The man tried speak with Woods but he would not answer questions and was unresponsive, the affidavit states. Shortly after, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Carlos Gonzalez arrived at the scene and said Woods was conscious and able to answer basic questions. It is the first time since the crash on February 23 that authorities have disclosed that the golf star was unconscious. According to the affidavit, Woods told sheriff's deputies at the site and at the hospital that he did not remember driving or how the crash happened.
