While cities up and down the UK make their bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, Sadiq Khan has insisted London should ‘clearly’ be the top pick. The United Kingdom will host Eurovision for the first time in 25 years after Ukraine was deemed unable to stage the contest due to the ongoing Russian invasion. Sam Ryder’s epic performance of his single Spaceman came in second place to Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra in May this year, and subsequently the UK was picked to host the contest instead. A mental health nurse who was jailed for taking her NHS-funded 'company car' to a car wash after her son shot and wounded a love rival in the back seat has been struck off. Patricia Dean called in sick at work to get her Mercedes deep-cleaned after her 31-year-old son Vincenzo De Falco shot Jonathan Smith in the leg at point blank range with a shotgun, while buying cannabis from him in January 2019. As police hunted her son, Dean, a specialist mental health nurse at North Manchester General Hospital, had the vehicle undergo a full valet at a car wash to remove traces of Mr Smith's blood. Mr Smith, who had been in a relationship with De Falco’s girlfriend, was found dumped in the street in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, and underwent 56 hours of surgical procedures which ultimately led to doctors having to amputating the leg just below the knee. Australian pop music icon Olivia Newton-John has died. The singer and actress, who starred in films including Grease and Xanadu, was 73. Her husband, John Easterling, announced her death in a post to her official social media accounts this morning. Newton-John died peacefully at her ranch in Southern California, surrounded by family and friends, Easterling said. “Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer,” he wrote in the post.
