Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the summer window after agreeing a fee with Sao Paulo for Marquinhos. The Brazilian teenage winger arrived in London earlier this week after the Gunners finalised terms on a deal worth around £3million. Marquinhos made his senior debut 18 months ago and has caught the eye of Arsenal’s South American scouts. According to Goal, assuming the paper work is completed in time, the versatile forward could link up with his new teammates in the summer and could be given the chance to impress during pre-season . Marquinhos has been identified as ‘a player for the future’ but that was also the case with Gabriel Martinelli, who joined as a virtual unknown from Ituano in the summer of 2019, but such was his impact that he was immediately promoted to the first team squad. Despite their likely failure to miss out on Champions League qualification, Arsenal’s transfer budget is unlikely to be adversely impacted and the club … [Read more...] about Marquinhos arrives in London as Arsenal close in on first signing of summer transfer window

Harry’s House: Juiciest lyrics on Harry Styles’ new album from sushi to ‘little freaks’ and horoscopes
Harry Styles ’ new album is finally out and, let’s face it, we now have Instagram captions and memeable lyrics to use for the next three months. Harry’s House, his third solo album which features the chart-topping lead single As It Was, arrives three years after the beauty that was Fine Line and, honestly, is just as dreamy. With song titles like Music For a Sushi Restaurant, Little Freak and Matilda, it’s safe to say that Harry’s House is as eclectic as they come in pop. Speaking about the record, Harry, 28, recently said: ‘I think everyone went through a big moment of self-reflection, a lot of navel-gazing, and I don’t know if there’s anything more navel-gazing than making an album. It’s so self-absorbed.’ He added to Better Homes & Gardens : ‘It sounds like the biggest, and the most fun, but it’s by far the most intimate.’ Well, let’s get stuck in then as Harry’s House boasts some of Hazza’s most interesting lyrics yet… Music for a Sushi Restaurant … [Read more...] about Harry’s House: Juiciest lyrics on Harry Styles’ new album from sushi to ‘little freaks’ and horoscopes

In the second half of the 20th century, many North American archaeologists agreed on the idea that the Clovis people had been the first to reach the Americas. Family takes in Ukrainian refugee and dad runs off with her just 10 days later
A dad left his partner of 10 years after falling in love with the Ukrainian refugee they had taken in. Tony Garnett, 29, applied to be part of the Government’s refugee scheme but grew impatient at how long it was taking and joined Facebook groups where Ukrainians were looking for sponsors. This is where 22-year-old Sofiia Karkadym found him – she was fleeing her home in Lviv after Russia invaded. After figuring out the logistics, Sofiia arrived in the UK on May 4 and went to live with Tony, his partner Lorna and their three and six-year-old daughters in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Tony told The Sun how the pair ‘just clicked’ and got on really well straight away – partly because Tony could speak Slovakian which is similar to Ukrainian. The two them started chatting in a language Lorna did not understand, staying up to watch TV after she had gone to bed and went to gym with each other regularly. They both said that although they were ‘getting on brilliantly’ at … [Read more...] about Family takes in Ukrainian refugee and dad runs off with her just 10 days later
Airbnb host called woman ‘fatso’ for complaining about pet rats and ‘awful smell’
A mum who complained to an Airbnb owner about mess and pet rats in her accommodation was told: ‘F**k off fatso.’ Lianna Bartle who says she ‘struggles’ with her weight, had booked a weekend away for her 35th birthday with her eight-year-old daughter, Lily. They chose a room in the village of Endon, Staffordshire, marketed by host Matthew Tolley as ‘Luxury Endon House Share’. But Lianna said the offering – located half-an-hour’s drive from Alton Towers, was ‘anything but luxury’. Matthew claims the mum is on a ‘hate campaign’ against him but admitted sending her a WhatsApp message saying: ‘No you were rude and wrong. F*** off fatso.’ The host, who lists his property on Booking.com, Airbnb, and A-Hotel, also wrote that Lianna ‘doesn’t cook and lives on junk food and crisps.’ He currently has a rating of 4.81 on Airbnb with 59 reviews. There’s no case for Britain to pay reparations
Prince Charles has flown into a storm in Canada on his royal tour, amid a row about the past treatment of the country’s indigenous inhabitants. It is not simply a question of colonial conquest by the French and the British. Much more recent abuses of indigenous children within residential schools, many of them Catholic, have attracted apologies from Pope Francis downwards. Within hours of the Prince’s arrival, there were demands that reparations be paid. Many Canadians will feel ashamed of what happened in these schools. It can hardly be denied that the motive for setting them up in Canada, as in Australia and New Zealand, was to “civilise” the children, weaning them away from tribal customs, including their religious rituals, native language and ancient crafts. Insofar as these have been preserved, it has been as tourist attractions, stripped of the meaning they possessed for past generations. The most shocking allegation is that the deaths of children were covered up. Patches … [Read more...] about There’s no case for Britain to pay reparations
