Graeme Souness slams Manchester United star Anthony Martial: ‘You can’t rely on him – he’s dodgy like Paul Pogba’
Graeme Souness has slammed Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, claiming he does not have the right mentality to play for the Premier League giants and cannot be relied upon by Erik ten Hag. Martial looked set to start United’s Premier League opener against Brighton on Sunday before pulling up with a muscular injury in training . The Frenchman spent the second-half of last season on loan at Sevilla and that temporary move appeared to pave the way for Martial’s permanent departure from Old Trafford. But Martial impressed Ten Hag in pre-season and the Dutch boss was reportedly planning to start him up top for United against Brighton before the injury setback. Souness is surprised by Ten Hag’s verdict on Martial as the former Liverpool defender does not believe the 26-year-old has the right mindset to flourish for a club like Manchester United. The Sky Sports pundit even compared Martial with ex-United midfielder Paul Pogba and says they are both … [Read more...] about Graeme Souness slams Manchester United star Anthony Martial: ‘You can’t rely on him – he’s dodgy like Paul Pogba’
John Bercow’s case shows once again that Parliament is hopeless at dealing with bullies
‘His evidence in the investigations, the findings of the commissioner, and his submissions to us, show also that the respondent has been a serial liar.” A liar. That was the conclusion of the report by Sir Stephen Irwin into the appeal by former Commons Speaker John Bercow over allegations he bullied three members of staff. In the rarefied world of Parliament there is no more damning assertion; MPs are, after all, Honourable Members, and to doubt their word is to undermine their very existence. In the Commons it is forbidden to accuse another Member of playing fast and loose with the vérité – SNP leader Ian Blackford was cast out of the Chamber just a few weeks ago for suggesting Boris Johnson may have been telling porkies over the Downing Street party scandal. So Sir Stephen’s findings could not be more damaging to Mr Bercow’s future prospects; he can wave goodbye to his hopes of a peerage – gone too is his dream of playing some kind of senior role in the Labour Party, or … [Read more...] about John Bercow’s case shows once again that Parliament is hopeless at dealing with bullies
New video and audio reveal moments before doctor was dragged off United Airlines flight
The physician who was dragged off a United Airlines flight in Chicago this month was verbally and physically abusive, and flailing his arms before he lost his balance and struck his mouth on an armrest, according to the aviation officer who pulled the man out of his seat. Surveillance video from inside the airport shows Dr. David Dao and his wife boarding the aircraft separately. Later, a woman who appears to be Dao's wife exits the jetway frantically, and hurries back onto the flight. The portion of the surveillance video showing Dr. Dao being removed from the flight appeared to be redacted. The Chicago Department of Aviation on Monday released the officer's report of the incident, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request by The Associated Press. The report reveals for the first time the officer's version of what happened aboard the plane at O'Hare International Airport on April 9. The incident — which was videotaped by other passengers and widely shared … [Read more...] about New video and audio reveal moments before doctor was dragged off United Airlines flight

Revealed: the best time to stop eating if you want to maximise weight loss
The practice of intermittent fasting has been gaining traction in recent years as an effective way to stimulate weight loss . It’s supposed to help make the body more efficient in how it burns and uses fuel, rather than forcing it to lose weight. The idea is to go without food for a prolonged period of time – say, 14 hours – to force your body to start devouring fat. It takes up to about five hours for the body to finish absorbing and digesting and after that period, it goes into a ‘post-absorptive state’, which lasts up to 12 hours after your meal. That’s when you enter a fasted state – and it’s then that your body finds it easier to burn fat because your insuline levels are low. Whether or not it works, well…there are arguments both for and against taking up intermittent fasting. But if you do want to give it a go, there’s some new research that suggests you should probably stop eating after 3pm to have the best chance of dropping the kilos. Researchers from … [Read more...] about Revealed: the best time to stop eating if you want to maximise weight loss

Welsh language group’s ‘manifesto’ call after census
Published 15 December 2012 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing The Welsh Language Society - Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg - has called for a new raft of measures to safeguard the language. It follows a recorded drop in the number of Welsh speakers in Wales in the 2011 census results published on Tuesday. The figures now suggest that Welsh is a minority language in two heartlands, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. Around 300 people attended a rally in Caernarfon to launch the campaign. Under the title 'Living Manifesto', the society is calling for changes to planning rules, education, and Welsh language use in the public sector. It says it also wants the Welsh government to quadruple the amount invested in developing and protecting the language.
