Three vehicles were involved in the smash, which happened at around 8.45am this morning on the A5 between Junction 7 of the M54 and Preston Island. Traffic has been queuing back along the M54 past Telford as a result. Major delays along the A5 from Telford to Shrewsbury. There's reportedly been a crash further along, but there's no movement whatsoever in that direction. "Arrangements are being made with Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service to remove a vehicle from the carriageway. "Traffic is backed up in the area, and Highways are currently managing the road." TRAFFIC problems have been affecting roads surrounding the Mersey Gateway after a vehicle crashed into a nearby railway bridge. Victoria Road, in Widnes, was shut last night and trains were stopped while emergency repairs were carried out. The road remains closed this morning. Network Rail is carrying out emergency repairs. Victoria Road/Waterloo Road is closed at the railway bridge, as #NetworkRail carries out urgent repairs after a vehicle hit the bridge. It's anticipated the road will re-open on Saturday. Britain's foreign secretary Boris Johnson says it's time Britain and France were linked by a bridge, calling it "ridiculous" that the two European powers were "only linked by a single rail line".
