This year will not only mark 10 years since the city won Capital of Culture but also the tenth anniversary of Liverpool ONE. Back in 2008, the complex opened to the public and changed the landscape of Liverpool's city centre in the process. It spans across Paradise Street, North and South John Street and parts of Church Street too. Its opening has helped bring a host of new retailers to the city, including Victoria's Secret, Debenhams and Boux Avenue. 10 years after its opening, we've taken a look back at how Liverpool looked before. Liverpool ONE is set to welcome brand new designer retailer this year when Armani Exchange opens its doors. Signs are now in place at the site based in Peter's Lane, although no exact opening date has been confirmed yet. The retailer was originally based inside Metquarter on Whitechapel but closed its doors last year to make way for Metquarter's huge multi-million pound makeover. No other details about what to expect from the store have yet been released, however if its former city centre store is anything to go by, it will be filled with the latest designs for both men and women. Since announcing it was set to open in the city, there has been huge anticipation surrounding Footlocker and more importantly when it would be opening. After months of build-up, the team has finally revealed the store will be opening on Friday, June 8. It is opening inside the former HMV building, meaning the store will be spread across two floors and promises to showcase the latest collections in what will be flagship store for the North West. It will be the biggest Footlocker store in the world. There is already a Footlocker store in Liverpool, based on Church Street, close to where Clayton Square is based, but its new site is set to offer limited edition collections and will be one of the first to receive ranges. Liverpool ONE’s newest store COS has opened on College Lane. The luxury retailer, which is part of the H&M-group, can be found in the former Lunya restaurant in the nineteenth-century warehouse. Set across 294sqm, the location has kept its original features including exposed red brickwork and rustic beams. Marie Honda, Managing Director at COS, said: “We look forward to opening in this vibrant city and hope customers enjoy the new store.” The store first launched in 2007 with a catwalk show at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, since then it has branched out across the world. The brand now has stores in New York, Milan, Paris and Madrid and 22 across the UK. However, the Liverpool venue is the first standalone store the brand has opened in the North West.
