‘Our home has been invaded by huge swarm of disgusting flies – and no one will help’
A couple say their home of more than four decades has been invaded by flies , and the problem is so bad the critter fly into their mouths when they're eating. Angela Hickey, 68, and John Hickey, 79, claim the property they have lived in for 43 years has now been taken over by thousands of drain flies. And the couple , from Stanmore, Middlesex, allege that their housing association has not dealt with the problem satisfactorily. The pair were moved into a hotel after the association said they would fumigate the property and pull the kitchen out to assess the source of the problem. But, when they returned home, Angela and John claim they found minimal work had been done - and the flies were still in the property. And, nearly 18 months since they first noticed the flies, they are still trying to get rid of them. Home Group Housing Association said its team had "gone over and above to try to resolve the issue". But Angela claimed: “It’s got to the stage where we were … [Read more...] about ‘Our home has been invaded by huge swarm of disgusting flies – and no one will help’
True story of ‘demonic’ girl who ate dead bird before exorcisms inspired Hollywood film
If Anneliese Michel was still alive today, she would be on the verge of celebrating her 70th birthday. Born in September 1952, the troubled German girl only lived for 23 years, after dying of starvation weighing just 68 pounds. Before she took her final breath she endured 67 gruelling exorcisms over 10 hellish months. This was because her parents and local priests (along with Anneliese herself) considered her to be possessed by the Devil. And they believed it was demons who caused the young woman to crawl under tables to bark like a dog, eat spiders, bite the head of a dead bird and lick her own urine from the floor. Her chilling case eventually led to a trial, inspiring the 2005 Hollywood film, The Exorcism of Emily Rose. But here, approaching 70 years since the real-life Emily Rose was born, we take a look at the disturbing story that suggests truth really is scarier than fiction. Early life Unlike in the Americanised Hollywood film, Anneliese was born and grew up … [Read more...] about True story of ‘demonic’ girl who ate dead bird before exorcisms inspired Hollywood film
‘Cream tea coup’ could see five more MPs call for Boris Johnson to resign today
Five more Conservative MPs are preparing to submit letters of no confidence in Boris Johnson , according to reports. A member of the government could even join the plotters after the publication of Sue Gray’s ‘update’ on Downing Street parties failed to quell discontent within the Conservative Party . On Wednesday, three more Tory MPs confirmed publicly that they had written to 1922 Committee chairman Sir Graham Brady, who needs to receive 54 letters before a vote is triggered. It now means that 13 backbenchers have told the PM to go due to his handling of ‘partygate’, that has provoked such anger among the electorate. They could be about to be joined by five more rebel MPs as early as today, The Times reported. The latest plan to oust the PM has been dubbed by some as the ‘cream tea coup’ as two of the MPs to speak out – Anthony Mangnall and Sir Gary Streeter – represent seats in Devon. Mr Johnson himself however has rejected calls to resign and said he … [Read more...] about ‘Cream tea coup’ could see five more MPs call for Boris Johnson to resign today
