How is Bangladesh’s Digital Security Act muzzling free speech?
Protesters have taken to the streets of the Bangladeshi capital following the death of a writer in a high-security prison on February 25. Mushtaq Ahmed was arrested 10 months ago under Bangladesh's Digital Security Act (DSA), which allows security forces to carry out arrests without a warrant of anyone criticizing the government online. Ahmed was arrested for comments he posted on Facebook criticizing the government's response to the coronavirus pandemic in May. His bail petition was rejected six times. Man Utd and Tottenham WILL have home advantage for Europa League ties as Uefa give them green light to host second-legs
TOTTENHAM and Manchester United have got the green light from Uefa to play next week’s Europa League last-32 second legs on home soil. But Tottenham ’s Austrian opponent Wolfsberger will have to make an indirect flight both ways to avoid quarantining when they return home. Similar restrictions mean United ’s first leg against Real Sociedad will be played in Turin rather than in the Basque country. But unlike Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side, Spurs and United will be able to host next week’s matches. The Gunners will play both legs against Portuguese giants Benfica on neutral soil - in Rome and then Piraeus. Spurs' opponents Wolfsberger, though, will have to travel to London via Slovenia, to get round Austrian restrictions. And while there are quarantine rules for travel between the UK and Spain, because Sociedad will have spent … [Read more...] about Man Utd and Tottenham WILL have home advantage for Europa League ties as Uefa give them green light to host second-legs
Amazon opens till-free grocery store in London – the online retailer’s first physical store outside the US
Amazon will open its first physical store outside the US today - but the shopping experience will be a bit different. Amazon Fresh is in Ealing, London, and it is much smaller than a supermarket. It will sell prepared meals, some groceries, and Amazon devices, as well as having a counter for collecting and returning online orders. Shoppers will scan a smartphone QR code to open the store's gates and their purchases will be tallied using ceiling cameras and shelf weight sensors. The technology can also register when someone has put an item back on the shelf, if they change their mind, for instance. Advertisement The shopper's on-file credit card is billed after they leave the shop and a receipt is emailed, meaning they can walk out of the store without waiting to pay. Amazon said the Just Walk Out technology uses "computer vision, deep learning algorithms, and sensor fusion".
