Leeds United have been dealt a transfer blow with the news that Daniel James is close to signing a new deal at Swansea City. The highly-rated winger was close to securing a move to Elland Road from South Wales in January, but the deal fell through at the last minute on deadline day. James' contract is set to expire in 2020, and it was expected that Leeds would return for him in the summer transfer market. Yet the youngster has given an interview which suggests he may well opt to extend his stay at the Liberty Stadium. He told The Telegraph : “I think the negotiations are taking place now. "I am just waiting on that, I’m happy with it and am letting my agent and the club deal with it and hopefully it happens soon. I want to get into the Premier League and I’d love to do it with Swansea. There may be a time (when I have to leave) but that’s in the future." Another January has come and gone, which means it is time to look forward to what could happen once the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.
