Donald Trump will resign soon to save face, “The Art of the Deal” co-author predicted

August 17, 2017 by www.newsweek.com

The guy who helped President Donald Trump write his seminal book, The Art of the Deal , said the former reality-TV star will soon leave the White House on his own accord. In a series of tweets Wednesday, Tony Schwartz—who co-authored the 1987 book that helped define the real estate magnate's public image—said he thought the walls were closing in on Trump and he would soon leave office in an attempt to save face. Every tweet Schwartz sent Wednesday was about Trump. "Think of Trump as a toddler w/reactive attachment disorder, and therefore in a permanent virulent tantrum. His development ended at age 7," he posted . He later added, "Remember that every time Trump criticizes and demeans someone he is projecting his deep sense of inadequacy & self-hatred onto others." Later, he wrote in a series of three tweets that Trump's end would come before the year was out. "The circle is closing at blinding speed. Trump is going to resign and declare victory before Mueller and … [Read more...] about Donald Trump will resign soon to save face, “The Art of the Deal” co-author predicted

In his latest Twitter blunder, Donald Trump retweeted a message calling him a fascist

August 15, 2017 by www.newsweek.com

President Donald Trump accidently retweeted a message by a Twitter user that referred to him a fascist over his claim that he may pardon former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who refused to stop targeting immigrants to the U.S. "He's a fascist, so not unusual," wrote a Twitter user named Mike Holden in response to Trump's post Tuesday morning of a Fox News article about how he is "seriously considering" pardoning ex-Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Minutes later Trump deleted the retweet. "I'm announcing my retirement from Twitter. I'll never top this RT," Holden wrote after the president retweeted him. "Ooooh, I'm going to have a lot of Trumpites to deal with today I reckon…," he tweeted as he gained hundreds of followers on the social media platform in a matter of minutes. "I'm going to put 'Endorsed by the President of the United States' on my bio, as soon as they have a decent one!" he wrote. "My notifications just went nuts!" Arpaio was found guilty of criminal contempt of court on … [Read more...] about In his latest Twitter blunder, Donald Trump retweeted a message calling him a fascist

Why are NBA teams reportedly abandoning Donald Trump hotels?

November 17, 2016 by www.newsweek.com

Several National Basketball Association (NBA) teams are to stop staying in Donald Trump's hotels following the business mogul's U.S. presidential victory, according to reports. ESPN claims the Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks will no longer use the Trump -branded properties on road trips in Chicago and New York City to avoid an association with the property tycoon, who defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton to win the White House last week. The Trump SoHo hotel in Manhattan is a popular destination for NBA franchises who travel to play the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets. But in October, it was reported that Adrian Gonzalez of the Los Angeles Dodgers had refused to stay in the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago in August, when the Dodgers visited the Chicago Cubs. Two prominent NBA head coaches, Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs and Steve Kerr of Golden State Warriors, have voiced strong opposition to Trump since it was confirmed … [Read more...] about Why are NBA teams reportedly abandoning Donald Trump hotels?

Police take man with two guns and 90 rounds of ammo into custody at Trump International Hotel

May 31, 2017 by www.newsweek.com

Updated | A Pennsylvania man armed with two guns and 90 rounds of ammunition was arrested at Trump International Hotel Wednesday night in Washington, D.C., less than a mile from the White House. Metropolitan Police Department officers detained 43-year-old Bryan Moles on two counts of carrying a pistol without a license and one of possessing unregistered ammunition, according to The Washington Post . Related: Under Donald Trump, what will happen on guns? No shots were fired at any time, but police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told the Post that his department got a tip about Moles having "made threatening remarks" from another police force. The police were acting on a tip that the suspect had the guns at the hotel, which opened last September in the city's old Post Office Building. They saw one gun in his car and another in the glove box on Wednesday and took Moles into custody, seizing a Glock 23, a Bushmaster Carbon-15, 30 rounds of 7.62 ammunition and 60 rounds of .223 … [Read more...] about Police take man with two guns and 90 rounds of ammo into custody at Trump International Hotel

Can Trump’s political and commercial brands ever recover from his Charlottesville comments?

August 18, 2017 by www.newsweek.com

President Donald Trump's brand is one of his most—if not the most—precious possessions. He puts his name on everything: Trump steaks, Trump golf, Trump hotels, Trump condos, Trump ties and the failed Trump University. Some of these products have been complete flops. But he's recovered from each one, galvanizing his image with The Apprentice reality show. It's difficult, however, to continue trading on a brand if it's been irreparably tainted. The fallout from Trump's comments this week equating the white supremacists and neo-Nazis who marched in Charlottesville, Virginia, with those who opposed them marks a turning point for the president's commercial and political brands, which have become intertwined, branding experts say. It remains to be seen, they say, whether Trump can recover. Still, he did, after all, box his way out of bankruptcy. "I think it's going to frame him historically as aligned with these fringe groups that are not consistent with the character of … [Read more...] about Can Trump’s political and commercial brands ever recover from his Charlottesville comments?

Trump lawyer who was at Mar-a-Lago for FBI search describes the scene

August 10, 2022 by www.cbsnews.com

Lindsey Halligan, a Florida-based attorney for former President Donald Trump, was at Mar-a-Lago and spoke with CBS News about the FBI search. Here's her description of what transpired: Halligan received a call at around 10 a.m. Monday that FBI agents were at Trump's Palm Beach home, Mar-a-Lago, and they had a search warrant. She was the second Trump attorney to arrive on scene, at about 11 a.m, after the search had begun. Christina Bobb, who used to be a TV host on the far right OAN Network, was already there. Over the next eight hours, Halligan said 30-40 FBI personnel conducted the search. There were a handful dressed in suits, but most wore t-shirts, cargo pants, masks and gloves. Halligan estimates 10-15 FBI vehicles went in and out of the property, including a Ryder truck. She didn't witness boxes or documents being loaded onto the truck, though she did not dispute FBI investigators took material from Mar-a-Lago — Halligan just didn't see it. Sources told CBS … [Read more...] about Trump lawyer who was at Mar-a-Lago for FBI search describes the scene

Mexico grants new trademarks to Trump organization

March 13, 2017 by www.newsweek.com

The saga of Donald Trump's relationship with Mexico took another twist on Sunday. After all the talk of the wall the president claims Mexico will pay for, despite the country saying that it won't, and the cancellation of Enrique Peña Nieto's visit to see Trump in January, Trump now has three trademarks in Mexico. Though Trump has said he wants to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico, his company received three trademarks in late February, according to The Associated Press (AP) . The trademarks, valid until 2026, reportedly add to another license the Trump Organization received from Mexico in October and cover a wide range of businesses from construction to hotels to insurance. While previous, expired trademarks were held in the name of Donald J. Trump, these are owned by DTTM Operations LLC, located in Trump Tower in New York. In accordance with the U.S. Constitution—which prevents the president from receiving money or gifts from foreign … [Read more...] about Mexico grants new trademarks to Trump organization

Even President Trump’s Arizona rally has been caught up in efforts to shut down hard-right events

August 17, 2017 by www.newsweek.com

A series of hard-right rallies planned for the coming weeks are under threat of being shut down after a violent white nationalist event in Charlottesville, Virginia, last weekend left one counterprotester dead. In San Francisco, the U.S. National Park Service said it is deciding whether to pull the permit of a group called Patriot Prayer , which has organized a "Freedom Rally" in the city's Crissy Park below Golden Gate Bridge on August 26. The federal agency, which is responsible for the park, said in a statement Wednesday that it will make its decision within the next seven days based on a "thorough public safety review." The agency said it is receiving a "large volume" of comments from the public about the event, but these must be weighed against "our obligation to uphold one of our nation's most cherished constitutional rights, the First Amendment right to freedom of speech." Democrats, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and California Senator Dianne Feinstein, … [Read more...] about Even President Trump’s Arizona rally has been caught up in efforts to shut down hard-right events

Inside the hateful brain: Charlottesville, Trump and the physiology of loathing

August 17, 2017 by www.newsweek.com

The white supremacist and neo-Nazi protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, hold vile and abhorrent views, and they should be condemned in the strongest terms by all political, business, and civic leaders. That these poisonous views spilled over into the killing of Heather Heyer shows how odious ideas can metastasize through a crowd. But before hatred manifests into violence, it must first be conceived, processed and perceived in the brain. Understanding the physiological and evolutionary underpinnings of hate within this organ might offer clues as to what drove the protesters in Charlottesville to act in such a repulsive manner. The brain has a " circuit " that activates when it processes hatred. In neuroscience parlance, this circuit is composed of the right putamen, medial frontal gyrus, premotor cortex and medial insula, according to a University College London study , in which researchers scanned the brains of participants as they looked at images of those they professed … [Read more...] about Inside the hateful brain: Charlottesville, Trump and the physiology of loathing

Gen. Mark Milley Compared Trump Supporters To Nazis: ‘These Are The Same People We Fought In World War II’ | The Daily Wire

July 15, 2021 by www.dailywire.com

General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, compared supporters of former President Donald Trump to Nazis, according to a new book. Milley, who has been widely criticized for being “woke,” claimed that Trump was preaching “the gospel of the Führer” when he contested the results of the 2020 election and claimed that Trump had led the U.S. to the brink of its own “Reichstag moment,” a reference to an incident in 1933 that Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler used to consolidate political power in Germany. New York Magazine reported: … the general’s worries grew rapidly as the president plunged the nation into chaos following Election Day. Seven days later, Milley got a call from “an old friend” with an explicit warning that Trump and his allies were trying to “overturn the government.” Milley was confident that any attempts by Trump to hold on to power would be thwarted, because the military wouldn’t go along. “They may try, but they’re not going to fucking … [Read more...] about Gen.
