Queen’s three sons rushed to console ‘devastated’ mother after Philip’s unexpected death

· April 9, 2021 ·

A heartbroken Queen Elizabeth was comforted by her three sons who rushed to be by her side after the sudden death of Prince Philip . The Duke of Edinburgh may have been in delicate health recently and recovering after a month in hospital, but his death on Friday morning still came slightly unexpectedly. He is thought to have been alone with his wife and a small group of staff at Windsor Castle when he passed away, before his sons quickly arrived. Prince Andrew was the first son to get to the castle to console the Queen and he was joined by Edward and then Charles. Following a flurry of police activity at around 10.40am, Andrew, who lives closest at Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, arrived at the back entrance to the Elizabeth’s private apartments, just five minutes later. By 11.15am, another family member believed to be Edward, had also arrived to be by his mother’s side. Prince Charles, facing a longer journey from Highgrove, his Gloucestershire estate, got to … [Read more...] about Queen’s three sons rushed to console ‘devastated’ mother after Philip’s unexpected death

Coronavirus news UK LIVE – Final day of tough restrictions before pubs reopen, as UK’s fourth COVID jab to be approved

· April 11, 2021 ·

PUBS are preparing to finally reopen tomorrow for the first time this year. Non-essential shops, hairdressers and theme parks, as well as restaurants with outdoor space, reopen in England on Monday. A legal loophole means even pubs without gardens can fling open their doors to customers. Pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes can utilise any outdoor space available to them as a makeshift drinking and dining area - an initiative first mooted last June. Pub-goers will be able to soak up the sun in beer gardens across the UK, with a ‘mini-heatwave’ expected. It comes as the  single-dose Janssen vaccine is set to be approved in DAYS with the UK's fourth Covid jab expected to help widen the rollout to under-50s. A decision by the health regulator is expected to be made within the next ten days - with the Government having already ordered 30 million doses of the lifesaving jab. Coronavirus cases in the UK have dropped by 24 per cent with 2,589 daily infections recorded on … [Read more...] about Coronavirus news UK LIVE – Final day of tough restrictions before pubs reopen, as UK’s fourth COVID jab to be approved

Bridezilla forces guests to pay £11k to attend her big day – and she uninvites her brother when he refuses

· April 6, 2021 ·

WEDDINGS are expensive, that's a fact. But many brides try their best to keep within their budget, no matter how big or small. One woman, however, had a very different approach to a cost-effective celebration which saw her guests cover almost the entire cost, and if they didn't, well, they were simply uninvited. Even the bride's brother was banned from attending after he refused to give her a huge £11k, according to a Reddit post which was supposedly posted by a close family member. But that's not all as her grandmother and a few aunts were all uninvited too after refusing to pay up. You see, the bride allegedly forgot to pay some vendors for there service on her big day and she didn't have the finds to pay up front. It was just two days before the nuptials and she needed the cash, so she phoned her brother and asked for a huge $US15k (£11,000). The anonymous poster claimed the bride, known as Karen, "wasn't the brightest bulb in the box". "Karen calls her brother … [Read more...] about Bridezilla forces guests to pay £11k to attend her big day – and she uninvites her brother when he refuses

National minute of silence to be observed at start of Prince Philip’s funeral

· April 10, 2021 ·

There will be a national minute of silence held in memory of Prince Philip before his funeral begins on Saturday. Buckingham Palace announced that Philip's ceremonial royal funeral will take place on April 17 in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. A national minute's silence will be observed as it begins at 3pm. The duke's coffin will be transported from the castle to the chapel in a specially modified Land Rover he helped to design, and followed by the Prince of Wales and senior royals on foot, a senior Palace official said. The Queen has approved the Prime Minister's recommendation of national mourning, which began on April 9 and runs until and including the day of the funeral. Only 30 people - expected to be the Duke's children, grandchildren and other close family - will attend as guests, but the Duchess of Sussex has been advised by her physician not to travel to the UK for the funeral, a Palace spokesman said. It is understood Meghan made every effort to be … [Read more...] about National minute of silence to be observed at start of Prince Philip’s funeral

Mozambique: Stark pictures tell horrifying tale of three days under terrorist fire

· April 10, 2021 ·

Pictures shared with Sky News, taken by survivors of the Palma terror attack in Mozambique, give a graphic illustration of a terrifying three days under fire, surrounded by insurgents. Nearly 200 people - including foreign workers - took refuge in one of the town's hotels. But survivors have told Sky News how they fled for their lives because they felt they'd been abandoned and no one was coming to rescue them. One South African contractor spoke of almost constant shooting and shelling during the three days they were trapped inside the Amarula Lodge in Palma. Wesley Nel filmed on his mobile phone throughout and his footage shows those pinned down in the Lodge - including his brother Adrian and father Greg - lying on the floor of the hotel's upstairs restaurant as a volley of gunfire is heard. Advertisement "The gunfire just didn't stop," Mr Nel said. "The mortars - you're talking about 100's of mortars going off… probably 40 to 50 … [Read more...] about Mozambique: Stark pictures tell horrifying tale of three days under terrorist fire
