Ant Middleton has hit out at Channel 4 for firing him from SAS: Who Dares Wins, branding them "desperate and reckless" - despite also claiming that he had decided to quit anyway. Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the ex-Special Forces soldier went on to complain about the "PC patrol and woke patrol" kicking in but admitted to "butting heads" with crew on set. It comes after the Mirror told how female members of crew raised concerns with makers Minnow Films and Channel 4 during an end of year review where they were allowed to speak anonymously. However, a spokesman for Middleton has refuted the allegations, claiming that he is "always disciplined and utterly professional". Middleton told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: "It's all smoke and mirrors - from the last episode of SAS: Who Dares Wins when I filmed the last episode, it became a half-scripted reality show. Full control was taken from me - from health and safety to production. After that I said, 'I'm not going to film … [Read more...] about Ant Middleton brands Channel 4 ‘desperate’ over firing – despite claiming he quit

Gary Oldman’s tongue turned black and he’d ‘sweat vodka’ at height of alcoholism battle
Gary Oldman has shared the "hell" of his two decades as an alcoholic. The Oscar-winner has been sober for 24 years, but vividly recalls what life used to be like when he drank to excess. He told the LA Times : "I used to sweat vodka. It becomes such a part of you. "My tongue would be black in the morning. I blamed it on the shampoo. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, to be in the grip of it. It’s hell." Oldman developed what he calls a self-effacing humour to "mask the inadequacy", and used to joke about his heavy drinking. The father-of-three recalls: "I would sit down and tell the waiter, ‘I’ll have a large vodka tonic. And can you bring it now because I’m an alcoholic. I need it quicker.’” Even during his worst years, the London-born California-based star still managed to memorise his lines and work, making him seem functioning. But after two decades of alcoholism, and two rehab stays, the Darkest Hours star stopped "romanticising" his addiction. Oldman, 62, … [Read more...] about Gary Oldman’s tongue turned black and he’d ‘sweat vodka’ at height of alcoholism battle
