An original Apple computer with a wooden case is up for sale for £1.1 million ($1.5 million) on eBay — some 2,250 times more than its original price tag in 1976. The 'Apple-1' was the first product to be developed under the Apple name by company co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak and launched in 1976. Around 175 of 200 Apple-1 machines were sold in total, each carrying a price tag of $666.66 (equivalent to some $3,126 today.) The fully-functional model is being sold by Krishna Blake of the US, who purchased the machine in 1978, and comes with its manuals and a cassette interface. Also included in the sale is a period Sony TV-115, which was the monitor model originally recommended by Mr Jobs to use to display the computer's output. According to Mr Blake, the sale of this rare piece of computing history on the online auction site is 'truly a first for eBay.' In March 2020, another functioning Apple-1 model — this one without its … [Read more...] about Original 45-year-old Apple computer with wooden case set to sell for £1.1 MILLION on eBay — 2,250 times more than it originally cost in 1976
English football is consumed by racism and hatred. Can the cycle be broken?
Four decades ago, before his England debut, Cyrille Regis was sent a bullet in the post by a racist fan. In 2008, shortly after being appointed as Chelsea’s manager, Avram Grant was deluged with dozens of antisemitic emails. These days, as footballers continue to be subjected to racist abuse on Twitter and Instagram, the temptation is to wonder whether anything has changed except the method of delivery. The incidents begin to cluster with a grisly momentum: Marcus Rashford, Axel Tuanzebe on two separate occasions, Anthony Martial, Reece James, Romaine Sawyers, Alex Jankewitz and Lauren James. Statements are issued. Governing bodies, broadcasters and public figures clamber over each other to offer their condemnation, often by way of a fancy social media graphic. And then, like any wave, the anger subsides. The news cycle gets bored. Racism carries … [Read more...] about English football is consumed by racism and hatred. Can the cycle be broken?
