Chinese tech giant Oppo is slowly becoming a household name in the west, with their watches and audio hardware challenging the market leaders. But it was probably Oppo’s Find X3 mobile series that truly made them part of the conversation. Now Oppo looks to capitalise on the X3 series’ outstanding reception with its successor the Oppo Find X5 series. Like the X3 the X5 series is split into different models which include the Pro, Lite and the standard edition. Each is tailored with features to accommodate their respective price bracket whilst still trying to offer similar experiences. For this review, we will be taking a look at the higher end model in the Oppo Find XS5 Series, the Oppo Find X5 Pro. The Find X5 Pro comes in two colours, Glaze Black and Ceramic White. Both of the colour schemes come with a glossy finish which is fantastic but it would’ve been great to offer a matte version as the X3 series did. ‘Buffalo shooting shows life is black and white for trigger happy police in US’
Patrick Lyoya, Daunte Wright, Andre Hill, Rayshard Brooks, Atatiana Jefferson, Aura Rosser, Stephon Clark, Botham Jean, Jacob Blake, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Akai Gurley. A drop in the ocean of victims of an American policing policy that amounts to ‘shoot first, ask questions later’ when it comes to Black people. Scratch the surface and you’ll find a litany of cases over the past few years alone that could have so easily been handled with patience and compassion – as it should be – yet so often have resulted in death and the destruction of families and communities. Hill and Clark, for example, were shot because police somehow mistook the mobile phones they were holding for weapons. Blake was shot in the back multiple times at close range as he tried to enter his car. Read the detail around enough of these cases and you begin to get the picture. Contrast all that with Kyle Rittenhouse , Robert Aaron Long, Benjamin Murdy, Brian Riley, Floyd Ray Roseberry, Jeffrey … [Read more...] about ‘Buffalo shooting shows life is black and white for trigger happy police in US’

Netflix hints at password sharing crackdown as subscribers fall
By Daniel Thomas & Natalie Sherman Published 20 April comments Comments Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Netflix has hinted it will crack down on households sharing passwords as it seeks to sign up new members following a sharp fall in subscribers. The number of households using the streaming service fell by 200,000 in the first three months of the year as it faced stiff competition from rivals. Who, what, why: How dangerous are elderly drivers?
Published 23 September 2013 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing The number of over-70s who hold a UK driving licence has exceeded four million for the first time. But how dangerous are older drivers? There are occasional very well-publicised stories about elderly drivers going the wrong way on a motorway or dual carriageway. Only last week an 84-year-old woman died after driving the wrong way on the A1 in Northumberland. The RAC Foundation says the UK's oldest licensed driver is a 107-year-old woman, and there are 191 people over the age of 100 with a licence. They are among 4,018,900 people aged over 70 with full UK driving licences. But how dangerous are older drivers? The Department for Transport (DfT) says there is no evidence older drivers are more likely to cause an accident, and it has no plans to restrict licensing or mandate extra training on the basis of age. … [Read more...] about Who, what, why: How dangerous are elderly drivers?
Do driver awareness courses make roads safer?
Danny Shaw @DannyShawBBC on Twitter Published 22 June 2016 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Early on a Saturday morning I found myself in the basement of a hotel in the company of 12 strangers. The air conditioning was on at full blast; the atmosphere between us was also rather chilly. This was our "sentence" for committing a minor motoring offence - and none of us wanted to be there. We were on a driver awareness course called What's Driving Us? It was that, or accept a £100 fine and three penalty points. No contest, really. Over the next three hours there were discussions, presentations and role-play. None of us embraced it with any great enthusiasm - we just wanted to "tick the box" and let the weekend begin. My crime? I had jumped a red light driving up the A10 in north London and was spotted by a CCTV camera. The road ahead … [Read more...] about Do driver awareness courses make roads safer?

I'm standing in front of a Bankomat ATM on the shores of Lapad beach in Dubrovnik, trying to withdraw enough Croatian kuna to get me through the next few days.
