Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield 's names were not on the official accreditation list for their infamous visit to see Queen Elizabeth II lying in state last week. Sources have claimed the This Morning presenters created a 'hoo-ha' when they turned up at Westminster Hall with two colleagues last week to film a special segment for the ITV show - seeming to 'skip' the lengthy queue outside in order to see the late monarch's coffin ahead of her state funeral on Monday 19 September. The duo have faced a public petition calling for them to be sacked as presenters of This Morning and have been trolled mercilessly since the footage showed them being taken through to Westminster Hall to film a segment for the daytime TV show, as thousands waited for hours in the queue outside. As snaps emerged online of the pair arriving at Westminster Hall, with many making critical comments, This Morning quickly issued a statement clarifying that the two stars 'did not jump the queue, have … [Read more...] about Holly and Phil’s names ‘were not on official Westminster list’ but duo were ‘ushered in’

“Can you believe these are my customers?” Donald Trump once asked while surveying the crowd in the Taj Mahal casino’s poker room. “Look at those losers,” he said to his consultant Tom O’Neil, of people spending money on the floor of the Trump Plaza casino. Visiting the Iowa State Fair as a presidential candidate in 2015, he was astounded that locals fell in line to support him because of a few free rides in his branded helicopter. In the White House, he was sometimes stunned at his own backers’ fervor, telling aides, “They’re fucking crazy.” Yet they loved him and wanted to own a piece of him, and that was what mattered most. Almost immediately after his defeat in 2020, Trump began fundraising off his claims of fraud, turning to his ardent fans for support. Plenty of people donated small amounts of money to continue a fight he swore was valid and building toward action. It was difficult to discern, though, whether Trump actually believed what he was saying about the election. I … [Read more...] about Three Conversations With Donald Trump
The budget for Timaru’s Theatre Royal redevelopment and proposed heritage facility disappeared from publicly available council documents in July, as the costings unravelled. On September 9, the Timaru District Council released figures publicly showing the cost of the project had increased from the original $23.8 million to somewhere between $38m and $57m. The council is yet to respond to questions about when it first became aware of the multi-million dollar blowout for the project, who was made aware of that and whether councillors were told. However, a study of council documents shows the council’s own reporting of the project's financial status changed significantly in July. In parts of east London, a political struggle has begun, which could end with a more centrist Labour line-up in the area. A cluster of Parliamentary seats are up for grabs, many of them with sizeable Labour majorities. They are vacant due to sitting MPs either retiring or because local members have voted to open the seat up for re-selection. And they have become a battleground between the left and centre of the party, which is likely to test Keir Starmer's influence his and leadership of the party. Labour membership falls by 90,000, accounts show What is Momentum? London formed the bedrock of support for Jeremy … [Read more...] about Labour Party: The battle of the east London centrists
Published 16 September 2020 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing A council leader cleared of wrongdoing by the Labour Party has said he was the victim of a "malicious complaint" made by someone "with a political axe to grind" ahead of the general election. Jas Athwal was suspended last October from Labour over "extremely serious allegations". The Redbridge Council leader said he felt "tortured and betrayed" by the Labour Party. Labour declined to comment on the investigation. Mr Athwal was up against Sam Tarry as Labour's prospective parliamentary candidate for Ilford South at the December election. Mr Tarry won the seat for Ilford South - replacing Mike Gapes who had held it since 1992. At the time a local Labour Party member described the suspension as a "naked attempt at a political stitch up". Labour denied the timing had anything to do with the … [Read more...] about Redbridge Council leader cleared of Labour ‘axe to grind’ complaint
