In the Nottinghamshire countryside, a little over 15 miles from the city centre, there is a luxurious day spa where you can escape the stresses and strains of every day life. Eden Hall Spa is situated just off the A46 on the way to Newark-on-Trent and it runs a Signature Spa Day which lets you enjoy full use of spa facilities and classes as well as a three-course lunch. You can also have a treatment, which is included in the price. Formerly known as Middleton Hall and chapel, the building was built in 1875 and still retains many of its original features. I visited on a drizzly Monday at the beginning of June (before the heat wave) and I would thoroughly recommend visiting on a weekday as it was nice and quiet and there were no large groups. We were welcomed by staff at reception who handed us a schedule of our treatment and lunch times, which were staggered to reduce overcrowding, we were then given a guided tour before being left to roam free. At least two hours alone could be spent … [Read more...] about Eden Hall Day Spa: An indulgent escape from the stresses of every day life
Just for you day spa
It's nice to leave the hustle and bustle of every day life behind every once in a while and enjoy a bit of 'me time' - and Eden Day Spa in the Nottinghamshire countryside provides the perfect opportunity to do just that. Situated in the north of Robin Hood county - not too far away from the market town of Newark - Eden Day Spa is housed in a stunning building of architectural delight. We were met at the entrance by two extremely friendly members of staff and the offer of a refreshing strawberry drink before being given a personal tour of the buildings and the facilities and a brief explanation of the treatments available to us. The spa is wonderfully decorated using the beauty of the building to capture the essence of modern day living - it felt extremely relaxing and comfortable and it is obvious … [Read more...] about Eden Hall Day Spa: A little bit of heavenly pampering
FAMED for its Roman spa, yellow stone buildings and association with Jane Austen, Bath has long been a favourite destination. But while there’s so much going on in the city itself, visitors could easily miss out on the stunning countryside, chocolate-box villages and wealth of history in the surrounding area. Step forward Jules Mittra, founder of Around And About Bath. The former history teacher has applied his considerable knowledge to tourism, taking small groups on bespoke tours of the areas around Bath. Choices include Stonehenge And Secret Somerset, Medieval Marvels And Movie Locations, Historic Pubs: Mining And Dining, and the one I chose, Hidden Cotswolds: Past Glories And Forgotten Stories. And yes, Bath is in the Cotswolds — which was news to me. After collecting us from the door of our hotel in his nine-seater car, Jules explained that he wasn’t going to tell us where we were going — which was all part of the fun. GO: BATHSTAYNG … [Read more...] about Visit for the Roman Spa and Jane Austen but don’t miss out on Stonehenge and the countryside when in Bath
A Bacchanalian spa treatment that involves wallowing in red wine was always going to appeal to me. A firm believer in the calming, healing effects of a hot bath, I’m also very much in favour of a medicinal glass of red wine. According to mother-daughter duo Anna and Sonia Milena Brilli, the pair behind the new Ella Di Rocco vinotherapy spa (complete with the UK’s first wine bath) which opened in Fulham in February, “vinotherapy” is already a hit in Italy and France. The red wine bath is a famous offering at 5* French spa Les Sources de Caudalie in Bordeaux. Friends scoffed that they’d rather bathe in champagne. Meanwhile, I worried that the alcohol would dry my skin out, and that the wine would...
