A US woman has shared her story on social media of an almost lethal heart attack as a warning to other women of the symptoms they may miss. Antidepressants may reduce risk of second heart attack - study How some 'very novel' NZ research could save heart attack victims' lives The nurse, who goes by Twitter handle GeeWheezie, says she wanted to warn women "that our heart attacks feel different" to those commonly described by men. "Last Sunday I had a heart attack. I had a 95 percent block in my left anterior descending artery," she revealed. "I'm alive because I called [emergency services]. I never had chest pain. It wasn't what you read in pamphlets." The woman wrote that she didn't recognise any of her symptoms from pamphlets at doctor's offices. Instead of pain in her upper chest, she says she had pain in her upper back "on and off for weeks", causing her to believe it was merely "muscle strain", from helping her neighbour clean out her barn. "The pain ran across my upper … [Read more...] about Woman’s unusual heart attack symptom serves as warning to others

Family ‘numb’ as nightclub bouncer dad, 32, dies of suspected heart attack
A much-loved dad has left his family and friends devastated after dying suddenly aged 32 from a suspected heart attack. Ashley Otter, who was well known across the Swansea and Llanelli areas as a nightclub bouncer, had been watching the film Justice League at his Pendderi Road, Bynea, Llanelli, home on Thursday, November 29, with his lifelong best friend Leigh Hodge. Earlier, they had been to the gym and gone out for food together. He fell asleep, and when he woke up he told Mr Hodge he was having difficulty breathing. Mr Hodge, who was in the army, called for an ambulance and performed CPR on him for 25 minutes, before he was taken to Glangwili Hospital, but he could not be saved. There is yet to be a postmortem, but his family believe he may have experienced a heart attack. There is a history of them among young men in their family. Corrie’s Connor McIntyre reveals how a massive heart attack changed his life
Conjure up an image of Corrie ’s nastiest villain Pat Phelan and “quiet and mild-mannered” probably aren’t your first thoughts. But, for actor Connor McIntyre, who plays the callous conman, that’s exactly how he aspires to be. He knows just how fortunate he was to survive a massive heart attack a few years ago and, these days, is determined to make the most of every day. “I try not to sweat the small stuff and have less self-induced stress – to have a sense of gratitude about the day” he says. “Life really is relatively short.” Easier said than done, of course, especially when you’re playing a man who strikes fear into anyone who crosses him on the cobbles. So far he has shattered the Windass family, tried to scam his neighbours, watched as helpless Michael Rodwell lay dying and is now holding Andy Carver hostage in a cellar – which climaxes in tonight’s episodes on ITV . Hardly a stress-free day at the … [Read more...] about Corrie’s Connor McIntyre reveals how a massive heart attack changed his life
Eamonn Holmes told he’s ‘too fat’ and a ‘heart attack waiting to happen’ by weight-loss expert on Good Morning Britain
EAMONN Holmes was told he was "too fat" on today's Good Morning Britain. The 58-year-old presenter was guest hosting the ITV show alongside Kate Garraway when they had a health expert on to discuss whether GPs fat-shaming patients can help them lose weight. Eamonn agreed that doctors should be able to comment on the size of a person in their care, he asked weight-loss expert Steve Miller if he would tell him to "lose two or three stone" to fix his health problems. Steve replied: "I would say that but I would also say to Eamonn that he is too fat and he is a heart attack waiting to happen. "He's about to clonk me for that." However, Eamonn reassured Steve he hadn't spoken out of turn, replying: "I'm not because you know I agree with you." It isn't the first time the two men have discussed Eamonn's size, as Steve told him to shift the pounds during an appearance on This Morning last year. He said at the time: "Would I say you're fat? I would say, 'Eamonn, I adore you but you are too … [Read more...] about Eamonn Holmes told he’s ‘too fat’ and a ‘heart attack waiting to happen’ by weight-loss expert on Good Morning Britain
Pub landlord ‘suffered heart attack minutes after being punched’
A pub landlord who suffered a heart attack 'after being punched' has spoken about the impact it had on his life. Phil Shannon, 57, who is in charge of The Albert Hotel in Anlaby Road, west Hull, was punched in the mouth after a fight broke out at the pub in September 2017. The landlord suffered a bust lip and thought nothing of his injury. However, just minutes later he suffered a heart attack. “I don’t remember anything,” Mr Shannon said. “They called for an ambulance but they were all busy. Luckily there was a police armed response vehicle going around and officers had to perform CPR on me.” 'I died for 40 minutes - then I was shocked back to life' Police officers performed mouth to mouth and CPR on Mr Shannon for the next 40 minutes in a bid to restart his heart. However, they were unsuccessful, and Mr Shannon’s pulse only came back when paramedics finally arrived and shocked him with a defibrillator. Recalling the awful moment she watched her … [Read more...] about Pub landlord ‘suffered heart attack minutes after being punched’
