Jermain Defoe has lifted the lid on a potential move to Rangers. Record Sport revealed 35-year-old striker was a target for Steven Gerrard earlier this summer. The new Ibrox boss, who played alongside Defoe for England, remains in the market for attacking re-enforcements. But the former Tottenham and West Ham man doesn't expect to leave Bournemouth before the end of the transfer window. Asked about the possibility of a move to Rangers, Defoe said: "I saw some of that, but again, that's just something I've always had. "Even when I've been at clubs and played every game, you'll always find something, especially with social media now. "I've played with Steven Gerrard and we've got the same agent. Andrew Nelson has revealed how Jermain Defoe was a huge help to him during his early years as a pro at Sunderland. Defoe spent two-and-a-half seasons at Sunderland where he became a fan-favourite, and 20-year-old striker Nelson is now on the verge of breaking into the first team in his own right.
